Happy Kukur (Dog) Tihar 🤞🏻

The second day of the Tihar festival is celebrated by worshiping the dogs, the agents of God Yama. On this day people honor dogs believing that the dog can guarantee the souls of the dead to get to heaven. Flowers, garlands and ‘Tika’ are offered to the dogs and give them a fancy dinner.

Also, the Nepalese policemen will present beautiful garlands to the patrol dogs and paint their forehead in red cinnabar to thank them for their contributions in social security.

Maghe Sankranti, which falls on the first day of Nepali month of ‘Magh’, in a lunar calendar, marks the transition of sun into the Hindu Zodiac sign Makara (Capricorn), keeping an end to the winter and welcoming the spring season.
This day is celebrated with Makar Snan (Holy River Bath) and traditional pujas by visiting various Hindu shrines located at the confluence of different rivers. Devghat, the confluence on Kali Gandaki River and Trishuli River holds a great significance on this auspicious day and receives large number of visitors. Likewise, large numbers of people visit Kankai River, Dolalghat, Ridi, Triveni, and Baraha Chhetra for the Makar Snan making a day more special.
This day is celebrated with Makar Snan (Holy River Bath) and traditional pujas by visiting various Hindu shrines located at the confluence of different rivers. Devghat, the confluence of Kali Gandaki River and Trishuli River holds a great significance on this auspicious day and receives a large number of visitors. Likewise, large numbers of people visit Kankai River, Dolalghat, Ridi, Triveni, and Baraha Chhetra for the Makar Snan making a day more special. d souls. According to the tradition, elders apply little oil to the younger ones who then proceed for a holy dip in sacred rivers. Also, it is believed that eating and sharing delicious dishes at this festival adds to a healthy life.
Bullfighting is one of the biggest events that take place to celebrate Maghe Sankranti in various parts of Nepal.
