We were thrilled to recently welcome Darrell Wade, co-founder and chair of Intrepid Travel, to our office in Kathmandu, Nepal, for three-days of connection and collaboration with our local team and key stakeholders.

Darrell introduced our new 2030 strategy and company values, hosted media and met with the honorable Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation to discuss Intrepid’s future plans to develop sustainable, experience-rich travel in Nepal (Which last year clocked over one million inbound visitors!)

He spoke to the importance of the entire travel industry stepping up and assuming responsibility for climate action – a particularly important message here, as we’re home to some of the world’s most iconic peaks, valleys and landscapes.

Our office runs over 400 trips and employs close to 40 knowledgeable and experienced guides, and 19 office staff, who share this passion for responsible travel and Darrell’s ambition to grow our industry sustainably.

We have big plans and I can’t wait to see what we achieve over the next six years. Thank you, Darrell!

***TIF Month 2023 in Nepal - Recap***
October proved to be an incredibly eventful month for the Intrepid Nepal team. Not only did it mark the peak of the tourist season, resulting in a bustling office, but it also coincided with one of our longer festivals, Dashain. Adding to the excitement as a cherry on top, we had the pleasure of celebrating The Intrepid Foundation Month 2023. The Intrepid Foundation (TIF) is the not-for-profit entity of Intrepid Travel established to make a positive impact on communities that our travelers visit. TIF Month is celebrated every year to create a sense of community around TIF’s purpose, enabling our teams around the globe to find creative ways to make contributions.

To commemorate TIF Month, we planned various activities, all of which were executed successfully with the enthusiastic participation of our team.

First and foremost, on October 13, we enjoyed a delightful Team Potluck lunch, where each of us brought delicious homemade dishes to share and savor together.

The highlight of the month, however, was The Intrepid Foundation Futsal Event 2023, held on October 18. This event was organized to raise funds for TIF and witnessed the active participation of various suppliers, including our own team. The coveted trophy was claimed by Satkar Restaurant, while many others who didn't partake in the Futsal game generously made donations.

To conclude TIF Month 2023 on a heartfelt note, a group of us visited the Manavsewa Ashram on October 31. During our visit, we contributed essential food items to support the residents. Manavsewa Ashram is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for the less fortunate, particularly the mentally challenged and elderly individuals living on the streets.

On the same day, we hosted a documentary screening at our office. We watched an enlightening documentary titled "The Fight for Water," which shed light on the alarming decline in the world's water reserves due to the impacts of climate change.

In conclusion, TIF Month was a great opportunity for us to contribute to TIF’s cause and also to have fun as a team.

Friday the 13th, unlike its repute, was absolutely joyous for Intrepid Nepal. We organised a fun, delicious potluck lunch at the office to celebrate The Intrepid Foundation (TIF) Month.

We're thrilled to announce that Intrepid DMC Nepal successfully organized and completed Blue Dragon Marathon Walk on 10 September 2023.

A total of 30 participants including our office team, leaders, some of our suppliers and a number of our passengers joined us for the Walk. We covered a challenging yet rewarding 21 kilometers through the bustling streets of Kathmandu and alongside some picturesque outskirt trails. In spite of the scorching heat and humidity, the walkers’ spirited participation and heartfelt support for this admirable cause shone through.

Thanks to the incredible solidarity and generosity of our donors including our office team, leaders, suppliers and well-wishers, we have not only met but exceeded our goal of donation collection for Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, Vietnam. Together, we’ve raised NPR 110,919 – and counting – to support the Foundation, which will contribute towards enabling them to continue their invaluable work, rescuing and reuniting vulnerable children with their families and providing essential education, healthcare, counseling, and shelter.

With only some days until September 10 and Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, here are some tips to help you be prepared:

1. Warm-up: Before the day of the marathon walk itself, go on rehearsal / training walks. On the event day, do some stretching and warm-up exercises before the walk.

2. Mental preparation: If the thought of 21 kilometers seems daunting, break it down - think of it this way, it is just three 7 kilometers! Also, think of the impact your effort will have!

3. Attire: Wear light, comfortable clothing - especially, footwear. Break into your shoes beforehand if they are new.

4. Backpack: Carry a comfortable backpack for things like water or sunscreen.

5. Hydration: Make sure you carry your own water bottle and take regular sips to stay hydrated.

6. Food: Have a light, easy-to-digest breakfast. Carry chocolates or energy bars with you.

7. Brace yourself for the weather: Check the weather beforehand and be prepared. Carry a poncho or an umbrella if it is highly likely to rain. And don't forget your sunscreen!

Join Intrepid Nepal team for Blue Dragon Marathon Walk on 10 September 2023 to give vulnerable kids of Vietnam a better future!

In Vietnam it is estimated that one out of five children live in poverty due to which they are forced to leave school and look for work.
