Everest Base camp trek

Everest Base camp trek is one of the most challenging treks in Nepal. Apart from a panoramic view of Mount Everest, trekkers can get a sneak peek at traditions and lifestyle of the Sherpas. Trekking expeditions take place round-the-year, but the best time to hit this route is from March to May and September to November. Trekking during monsoons are not encouraged owing to safety reasons. Heavy snowfall and extremely low temperature during winter months can hinder trek. Summers see rhododendrons gracing the way.

Lumbini

Lumbini is the most important place of Buddhist pilgrimage, being Lord Buddha’s birthplace. Lakhs of tourists including followers of Buddhism visit Lumbini on Terai plains which is now a World Heritage Site. Prince Siddhartha Gautam was born at the sacred garden in Lumbini in 623BC. Emperor Ashoka visited Lumbini and erected a pillar to commemorate the birth of the Lord. Mayadevi Temple is revered among Buddhists, with a marker stone to show the exact spot where Lord Buddha was born. In the temple premises is the auspicious Puskarni Pond, where He was bathed for the first time after birth. Surrounding the sacred garden are Myanmar Temple, Gautami Nuns Temple and the China Temple. Japan Peace Stupa with a 41m high structure with four different statues of Lord Buddha overlooking four directions.
