Wild Earth Journeys--pilgrimages to wild and sacred places of the earth. Where story, myth, culture, adventure and spirit come together. We love horses, we love to walk in the mountains, we love medicinal plants and traditional medicine, spirit traditions, stories, and we love healing and working with local communities engaging in dialogue between discovery, science and healing. We love the quest

ions, and we love the journey, knowing that without exploring the furthest reaches of the last great wild places on this earth and in the elements, we can never know for ourselves. Come explore with us and tap on thirty years exploring Asia from the heart--foolishly. Come with us and meet extraordinary and ordinary people who could change your mind. I can't wait to get back to the steppes this summer. Son Galen is headed up to the Taiga to revisit family friends amongst the Dukha reindeer herders. Come join us if your soul needs resuscitating- a powerful blast of nature and a deep jolt for reflecting on how we live our lives. Ecosystems and cultures are precarious and climate change is bringing added challenges and complexity. If you need to remember what it can be like to live as a human with a profound relationship with animal and wilderness for survival, come join us.

In north central Mongolia, the Dukha people have lived a nomadic life with their reindeer herds for generations—today, that way of life is under pressure.

Being Americans, we think we're pretty awesome. Across the globe, not everyone will agree with that sentiment. If you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb, try to avoid these stereotypical aspects of an average American traveler.

"The Wave", a 190 million year old Jurassic-age Navajo sandstone rock formation, Coyote Buttes, Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area, Utah-Arizona border, USA.
📸 Blaine Harrington Photography

The Wave consists of intersecting U-shaped troughs that have been eroded into Navajo Sandstone of Jurassic age. The two major troughs which comprise this rock formation are 62 feet (19 m) wide by 118 feet (36 m) long and 7 feet (2 m) wide by 52 feet (16 m) long. Initially, infrequent runoff eroded these troughs along joints within the Navajo Sandstone.

➤ Bryce Canyon National Park (/braɪs/) is an American national park located in southwestern Utah. The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors. Bryce Canyon National Park is much smaller, and sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).

The park’s only water source needs a major upgrade, meaning that drastic changes to popular trails and campgrounds are only a few years out.

Wetherill Mesa, located on the west side of the park, is a long, narrow peninsula of land bounded by deep canyons with many natural alcoves in the sandstone cliffs. A visit to Wetherill Mesa allows you to explore a sequence of archeological sites that offer glimpses of nearly 700 years of Ancestral Puebloan life.

It is a 12-mile drive from the road junction at Far View to the Wetherill Mesa parking lot. Visitors can enjoy hiking and biking the 5-mile paved Long House Loop and other trails that lead to views of cliff dwellings such as this one of Nordenskiold Site #16.

Services on Wetherill Mesa are very limited and visitors should plan to bring food and water. At this time of year, the road is open from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. Vehicles on this road are restricted to less than 8,000 pounds and 25-feet in length.

Image: A cliff dwelling with 2 distinct levels is seen across a sandstone canyon. The surrounding cliffs are covered with juniper and pinyon forest.
