We're extremely happy to present the 2nd episode of our series "Weekend maa kaha Jaane?", after a serious long gap of almost two years. 🎉😄

In our first episode, we brought you our beautiful experience of camping at Bhundole Chaur. 🏕️ This time, we switched our gears, laced up our boots, and hit the Godawari- Chapakharka- Bojini trail. It is comparatively a very short hike inside Kathmandu Valley. ⛰️🥾

We hope you find this video helpful to plan your hike to Chapakharka and Bojinee via Godawari.

Stay tuned, help spread our work and don't forget to send in your feedback! Your feedback is the only thing that keeps us motivated to share more of our travel vlogs. 🏕️🌲

Exploring Alley of the Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur is the smallest district of Nepal but is Known as the best-preserved of the three ancient kingdoms of the Kathmandu valley. Bhaktapur is like a living museum, where the ancient Newari culture of its residents is alive and thriving in a manner unlike anywhere else in Nepal.

Steeped in the rich diversity of Nepalese culture and traditions, ancient Bhaktapur offers you a bouquet of things to do to unravel its many attractions. Dig deep into the local vibes of its atmospheric temples and heritage buildings, its crafts and spiritual rituals — and the wonder of its magical setting in the Kathmandu Valley, guarded by its Himalayan sentinels down the centuries.

Exploring Shree Antu
After our warm stay at "Basecamp 360" of Antu Pokhari, we went for the sunrise viewpoint in Shree Antu. We woke up at 6 and took our cab up to Shree Antu Parking Ground 🚖 and hiked 15-20mins uphill 🚶 to Shree Antu View Point. The peace and tranquility that we felt watching the sunrise over the horizon can’t be beaten.

After the sunrise experience, we also had a Bhakka and 'Phapar ko roti' for Breakfast which is one of the famous around the east. We then came back to our hotel at Basecamp 360 and left for Damak for a wedding Ceremony of our Team member 🌟☀️.

Our plan to tour around Purba/East of Nepal while attending our team member's Wedding in Damak, Jhapa was finally a reality after 2 years of COVID’s impact. 😉

We were excited to kill two birds with a stone. 😄

We took 45 mins flight ✈ to Bhadrapur from Kathmandu. After landing at Bhadrapur airport, it took an hour and a half ride 🚖to reach Kanyam Tea Estate. After touring around and trying a few local foods and authentic Ilam tea in Kanyam; we headed to our ultimate destination SHREE ANTU- One of the most epic sunrise viewpoints in Nepal. And in 3 hours we reached Basecamp 360 which is located by the side of Antu Pokhari. It made our stay comfortable, memorable, and fun. To be continued.... 😉😄

Mardi in Winter

It was totally unplanned. We instantly thought of doing a short trek and we decided to do Mardi Trek. We booked a flight for Pokhara and reached Forest Camp on the same day. That night was not an ordinary night for us, we were welcomed by huge snowfall throughout the night. The entire route was covered with snow which made the hike a little difficult but we were fully enjoying the enchanting view and it felt surreal. We reached high camp on the third day and returned to Pokhara via Sidhing on the 4th day.

Our Itinerary:
Day 1: KTM - PKR morning flight, Pokhara to Siding (Jeep, 2hrs), Siding to Low Camp(हुमाल) or Twin Peak (Hike, ~4 hrs)
Day 2: Low Camp to High Camp(केउ) (Hike, 6-7 hrs)
Day 3: High Camp to Mardi viewpoint (एक्ले देउराली) to Base Camp (ईम्छत्रे) back to High Camp (hike, 7-8 hrs)
Day 4: High Camp to Siding (Hike, ~6 hrs) to Siding to Pokhara (Jeep)

It's 2022 and We promise to post our travel stories and travel tips more regularly!

Amazing Tilicho

Last Thursday we posted a return ticket story of Manang from one of our beloved followers which reminds us about our previous Tilicho Trek. In the year 2017 during the month of September, we went to this Amazing Tilicho Lake trek and was one of the amazing treks we had ever done by then.

Also, Tilicho is one of the highest altitude lake located at 4919m above sea level so we should be aware of the Altitude sickness. The iconic trek of 21 days which includes the entire Annapurna circuit has been stretched down to 7-8 days due to the access of the 4wd vehicle nowadays. Usually, people reached Manang or even Khangsar directly by jeep (from Besisahar 800m to Manang 3519m) which makes them prone to be the victim of altitude sickness so we suggest you be aware of it and do the trek by acclimatizing your body before going to any high altitude place.

"Not just a photo but a return ticket"
“Our trip to Manang was jam-packed with fun and adventure. Despite all the difficulties and the road conditions not being so favorable it was all worth it when you see the epic mountain view and mesmerizing Tilicho lake which is located at the height of 4,919 Metres.

Along the way as a landscape photographer, it was the perfect opportunity to capture the majestic beauty of the Manang valley, here we meet some amazing persons along the way, as our culture refers as guests are gods and we were treated as such, the jeep drivers, the hotel owners and most important our porter dai who helped us in such a way we could not just thank him but he is in our heart.

As a keen interest in astrophotography, I didn't get the shot I was planning The Andromeda galaxy, it was either cloudy, foggy or the moon was shining with all its glory that was the worst possible situation for astrophotography, I had almost given up on the shot but then while returning from Manang to Chame where we had to stay for a night the ideal time to shoot was presented there not only that but the andromeda was setting behind the mountain so took out my camera tripod and started clicking pictures 120 to be precise as we have to stack them for better quality pictures. It was at that moment I realized that when you want something, never lose hope and never give up coz opportunities will present themselves even at the last moment.”

Day1: Kathmandu to Besisahar and jeep to Daneque
Day 2: Daneque to Manang jeep
Day 3: Manang to Tilicho base camp trek 8 hours
Day 4: Tilicho base camp to Tilicho lake and back 7 hours
Day 5: Tilicho base camp to Khanshar and jeep ride to Chame
Day 6: Chame to Beshishara and back to Kathmandu

💵 Budget was approximately 25 k per person
👣 Trek Difficulty: Very Hard Due to snow and some didn't have well grip shoes

Avalanche in Mustang
It is disheartening and scary that a massive avalanche sweeps through the residential area of Mustang.

Nepal has been facing extreme weather events due to climate change in recent years!

Seven students studying in a local school were reportedly injured after they ran away in panic as the area witnessed one of the biggest avalanches thus far.

Dudhkunda lake of Rolwaling Valley

Last week we shared about Tsho Rolpa journey from one of our beloved followers. This week we are sharing about Dudhkunda lake of the same region. Most of the people make it up to the Tsho Rolpa lake while trekking in Rolwaling valley, very few make it to the Dudhkunda lake. This might be because travellers are less aware of this beautiful lake as well. We hope this post will put some limelight on Dudhkunda for the people who are planning for Tsho Rolpa and Rolwaling valley trek.

Dudhkunda lake is a high-altitude lake located at Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project (GCAP) near Tsho Rolpa Glacier lake. Its location and mostly the color itself define the purity of lake and the mother nature. This lake also carries a myth that Goddess Parbati used to cleanse her body in this lake.

These photos and travel journey were shared by one of our beloved Follower who had recently completed this trek and shared his itinerary.

Tsho Rolpa
Tsho Rolpa lake of Dolakha district is recognized as one of the biggest Glacier lakes of Nepal which lies at an altitude of 4580m. It is also believed that the lake has grown considerably over the last 5 decades due to the glacial melting or Global warming in the Himalayas.

Last day of the Panch Pokhari Trek (Day 5)
On the last day of the trek, the morning was unlike the previous mornings, where everyone would be scrambling to pack their bags and get ready for the trek. Since we knew the distance from Tuppi Danda to Chimti, everyone was pretty relaxed. We met up with Syange Bhai who was our local guide for the way and was also helping us carry some of our loads. We followed him for the rest of the way, and we made a wise decision by doing so because he showed us the Haweli - which is now damaged from the 2015 earthquake - and Drugk Gumba, along with a cave and a stupa. If we had not followed him, we would have completely missed it, as the path to reach them was separate from the regular trail.

After 3-4 hours of sightseeing and walking, we reached the suspension bridge which is right next to Chimti. Our driver Shree Lama dai was waiting for us, and while our lunch was being prepared, we decided to go to the waterfall. We took some photos and decided to fly our FPV drone and it ended up crashing and falling on the waterfall. Luckily, we were able to rescue the drone. We then had our lunch and finally left Chimtti. While on the way, we also had a nice time swimming in the local river near Bhotang. And after a 6-hour jeep ride, we finally reached Kathmandu and our journey ended.

We would like to thank each and every member of the Panch Pokhari community and also to every lovely person we met on the trail. Though the road after crossing Melamchi is still not in a good condition and requires improvement for the smoother flow of the internal tourism, Panch Pokhari has a lot to offer and explore. Many people inquired about the availability of hotels in Panchpokari trek and there are many rumors and false information that there is no hotel on the route but we can assure you that if you coordinate well with the local people you’ll have no issues with lodging. We hope to see many people travelling Panch Pokhari in the coming days.

Before any of us woke up or anybody’s alarm rang, Sano Kancha dai came to knock on our door “ Are you not going to see the sunrise from the viewpoint? It’s 5 am already?” We then started to hurry to get ready to march for the viewpoint; the highest point throughout the trek. It took about half an hour to one (depending upon the individual's pace) to reach the viewpoint. But somehow we missed the sunrise. When we reached the top (4200 m.a.s.l.), we were speechless to see the magnificent mountain ranges up so close. Dorje Lakpa (6966m) Madiya (6257m) and Phurbi Chhyachu (6,637 m) of Jugal Himal Series were glowing with the first ray of the sun. And the beautiful view of Panchpokhari on the other side was equally alluring. We spent quite some time on the top, capturing the beautiful moments. Then we walked around panch pokhari circling all five of them and reached our hotel at 10 am. We had our early lunch, rested for a while then left for Tuppi danda. We finally reached Tuppi Danda and rested for the day at Chhiring Homestay.

Panchpokhari Trek -Day 3
We woke up to an amazing sunrise tossing the beautiful mountains. We could clearly see Jugal in the east and Ama Yangri in the West. We had our breakfast and headed towards Panchpokhari. The view was mesmerizing throughout the trail. Crossing through Chhata Ghabha (a narrow passage having religious importance in Hindu and Buddhist mythology) , rocky terrains, steep hills, grueling stairs we reached Lauri Bina and then finally entered Panchpokhari area. It was an overwhelming moment, it felt like being in a hermetic land.
We had our lunch at Sano Kancha dai’s homestay , rested for a while and then went to the helipad. We wanted to explore Maanam too, but we returned halfway through cause the weather got misty and dark. We stayed at Sano Kancha dai's hotel that night.

Panch Pokhari Trek Day 2:
If you remember, We had a nice rest at Kale dai’s homestay at Tuppidanda (Brongdogyang) at 2700 m.a.s.l. on the first day.

It was a chilly morning, we had a light breakfast and were getting ready to hit the trail when Dawa bhai and his friend were playing Tungna in front of Tsering Homestay (which apparently is a bigger and older hotel). We too spent some time having fun playing Tungna. And then we finally left to have our lunch at Choker Gyang, (Choker danda).

The trail was so beautiful, full of greenery, where we could actually experience the peaceful wilderness. We all were walking at our own pace which somehow was a kind of therapy to walk in the wild on our own but feeling safe at heart. Crossing through, forests mantled with mist, sounds and sights of rivulets, wooden bridge, sounds of tinkling bells of grazing chauris in the meadow, and finally a beautiful trail uphill leading us to Dawa bhai’s small hotel on the Chokergyang( 3300m). We had a delicious lunch with Padamchal(Rheum australe) ( a herb)’s chatni and garlic soup there. As we were with our family including old parents; we were not rushing just for the destination; whereas we were enjoying our journeys every bit, So we spent some time there resting and playing chess. We headed off at around 2 and our journey was followed up by the encounter with multiple Chhortens and a beautiful stone-paved trail accompanied by beautiful Rhododendron forest and autumn leaves all over. The light of the setting sun was adding the golden touch to the surroundings . We felt blessed and overwhelmed. Then we finally reached Nosyampaati ( 3700m) at around 5 pm. We could see a beautiful panoramic view of that area from there. We freshened up and wrapped ourselves in warm blankets as there was a strong cold wind. We had a plan to stay there to acclimatize. So we stayed in Nimsinga Dai and Bina didi’s Hotel that night.

Panch Pokhari Trek | Day 1

We all were excited for this trek, for this was one a kind trek for all of us, the most awaited one. Friends along with the family! We all gathered at Kalopul where Shree Lama dai (our Vehicle contact) had agreed to come and we hit the road at around 8 AM.

Passing through Sanga, Bhaktapur, Banepa, Dhulikhel, we reached Melamchi Bazar at around 11 am where we stopped by for our lunch with fish from Melamchi. We witnessed the distressing scene of Melamchi Bazar, buildings and bridges swept away by the recent flood in the monsoon. We crossed the river by a temporary bridge constructed by laying hume pipes. After crossing the river, we had to travel through off-road and a few disrupted roads. We crossed through Gunsa ( formerly known as Thangpal) and Bhotang village and finally reached Chimmti at around 3 pm.

We started our trek from Chimmti at 3:30 pm. Right after 5 mins, we were welcomed by a beautiful waterfall, a beautiful river flowing below it, and a suspension bridge over it. The 1st day of the Trek was all about climbing uphills and our last stop for the day was Tuppi danda (Known as Brongdogyang in the local Tamang language).
