SINGAPORE AIRLINES enhances PREMIUM ECOMOMY offering.

Singapore Airlines has unveiled its new Premium Economy Class offering which includes an expanded and improved selection of food and beverage options as well as a new amenity kit.

This new experience of Premium Economy Class is available on flights from 31 March 2024.

Premium Economy Class will now be offered a glass of Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV champagne after take-off. There will be a hard copy menu for the passengers to select from a new wide variety of meal, snack, and beverage options.

Customers may also choose from an expanded Book the Cook menu, which features up to 20 dishes available on rotation.

The new offering also includes an upgrade to the Premium Economy Class service-ware which will now be elegant custom-made porcelain to serve the passengers selected meals.

On flights that are 7+ hours long we are now offering our “Out of the Woods’ amenity kit to Premium Economy Class passengers.

MAN-OF-WAR FERRY

A direct ferry service from the Viaduct in downtown Auckland to Waiheke Island’s Man O’ War vineyard has been launched by the
Explore Group.

The 90-minute trip to the vineyard’s own wharf, means passengers arrive steps from the winery’s tasting room, said to be the only beachfront cellar door in New Zealand. Reservations are recommended for the Tasting Room restaurant, but walk-ins are encouraged for the lawn area, where a pop-up kitchen and bar operates on select dates.

NZ Passport System Upgrades Ahead for 07-11MAR24

The Department of Internal Affairs will next month undergo a significant upgrade to the New Zealand passport system, which means it will be off-line for a short period of time.

The planned passport system upgrades in March 2024 will mean people will NOT be able to apply, and passports will NOT be processed, from 1700 on 07MAR24 through to 0800 on 11MAR24.

** It’s about to get easier going through airport security in NZ **

Going through airport security just got a little bit easier.

From Monday January 22, international travellers flying out of Auckland, will join Christchurch and Wellington and not need to take their laptops and liquids out of their carry-on bags.

New Computed Tomography (CT) scanning machines will create high-quality 3D images that allow aviation security officers to better assess the contents of bags.

The Civil Aviation Authority said while the new technology is focused on fostering safety and security, it also enhances the passenger experience by streamlining screening for passengers.

Electronics such as laptops and tablets, and liquids, aerosols and gels can be left in travellers’ bags.

1. Travellers entering or leaving South Africa by air, land or sea will need to complete a traveller declaration. The online traveller declaration process will collect and process your travel information and provide an electronic response via email confirming declaration.

2. Travellers arriving in South Africa will receive customs instructions that will guide and inform them about customs requirements on arrival.

3. Travellers leaving the country are required to follow the instructions received in their declaration with confirmation once they are at the port of entry.

Auckland International Airport check-in relocated

Auckland International Airport will be carrying out essential remediation work on baggage belts in Zone A between 4 September and 3 October 2023. This will coincide with Air New Zealand's comprehensive refurbishment of Premium check-in between 4 September and 25 October 2023. These changes will have the following impacts for your customers travelling out of Auckland International Airport:
• Economy customers will check-in using the left side of Zone A and then follow a path to drop bags in Zone B
• Premium Economy, Business Class, Koru, Gold and Elite customers will check-in & bag drop using the right had side of Zone A
• Domestic Transfer’s and Group check-in will take place in Zone B.

The above will be clearly marked and additional support staff will be located throughout the Airport terminal

Update - New Zealand Traveller Declaration

The New Zealand Government has made the following updates to the New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD).

• Effective Tuesday 22nd August 2023 – ALL New Zealand airports can now process passengers who have completed a digital New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) instead of a paper arrival card
• Paper arrival cards will continue to be available and are still accepted for passengers who choose to complete a paper arrival card
• NZTD aims to digitise Border processes, and enable more efficient processing of passengers at the NZ Border
• All passengers, including children and infants, require their own NZTD (mirroring existing paper arrival cards which are required for every individual)

The New Zealand Traveller Declaration collects travel, customs, immigration and biosecurity information. It aims to improve the safety and security of New Zealand. It is available for travellers arriving into New Zealand's international airports.

WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS PRE-SEAT & ONLINE CHECK-IN

Airlines appear to be overselling flights and blaming travel agents when passengers are bumped, according to the Travel Agents Association of New Zealand (TAANZ).

A number of clients have reported that on checking in for their international flight whilst abroad (ie in Europe and Asia), they have been told by check-in staff “sorry but you do not have a seat as your travel agent has booked you on a stand-by ticket and we are full and can’t accommodate you”. In each case this has not been
the actual situation,’ says TAANZ CEO Greg Hamilton.

The passengers have all had confirmed bookings. Rather, it appears that airlines are back into oversold mode, and check-in staff are using a convenient travel agent line as the easiest explanation, and possibly to negate airline responsibility.’ Hamilton says TAANZ has taken this issue up with the airlines involved and IATA.

He says agents should be aware of the possibility of this occurring and where possible lock in a seat selection early, as opposed to at
check-in. ‘Perhaps encouraging your clients to lock-in their seat (often at a cost) is important in this under-supply / over demand market.

‘Suggest early check-in, not just for prevention of this issue but to avoid general airport challenges. ‘Ensure your clients have evidence of their firm (as opposed to waitlist) booking. And ensure they are clear that none of their sectors are waitlist – (ie don’t fall for
this situation if it occurs). In general, if a client is the victim of an oversold flight, they should be compensated.’ Hamilton adds that if a client does report this situation to an agent, then it should be taken up vigorously with the airline and reported to TAANZ.
