Please give a warm welcome to our new Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail Manager!

"My name is Xanthe Musgrave, and I'm thrilled to virtually introduce myself as the new Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail Manager 🚴‍♀️, based in the stunning Twizel.

I have recently finished up with the Department of Conservation, where I supervised some really important and fulfilling conservation projects. Prior to that, I have spent most of my career in the military, an equally rewarding and challenging journey. The great outdoors is my happy place, whether it's running, cycling or hiking, that is where I feel most at home. I firmly believe that exploring our beautiful country by bike is not only exhilarating but also crucial for its preservation. Cycling allows us to slow down, appreciate our surroundings, and forge meaningful connections with our environment, its histories and people. We really are lucky to have such an amazing cycle trail right on our doorstep!

I’m all about making things run smoothly, tackling tricky problems with creativity, and turning the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail into the must-do Kiwi adventure! I’m excited to hit the trail this season to meet some of you and would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or brilliant ideas.

Lastly- Life is short, take the scenic route!"

Beautiful MacKenzie Country.

A shower coming over into The Cass Valley, and a lovely rainbow boasts over Memorial Hut. A legendary spot where the Cass River meets the Ailsa stream. Steep ascents for hiking and crystal clear waterfalls, awesome night skies and just a magical spot all round.

Freezing fog and icy road conditions this morning in many places which temperatures plummeted once more down to around -7 to -8 !🥶❄️
