Meet Para athlete Louise Duncan and her horse Showcase BC! They are Paralympic debutants all geared up and ready to compete in Paris!

“I am so proud of what we’ve achieved to get here,” says Louise. “It’s always been a dream to get to the Paralympic Games.”

Louise grew up surrounded by a family that adored horses, with her mother Frankie being an ESNZ Coach and FEI level rider, and her father Lloyd working as a farrier. When she’s not with Showcase, Louise is busy running her business, a hairdressing salon in Levin.

Louise had meningitis as a teen which led to her having a series of strokes leaving her with temporary paralysis from the neck down. As a result, she gets aura migraines if she sits to the trot for too long. All four of her limbs are reduced in function, and as her trunk is impaired, her balance and co-ordination are also affected. She competes in the Grade IV sports class in dressage.

Most of us transport horses and ponies of varying sizes. Our centre divider systems comfortably stand horses from 14hh upwards. Now we also have a solution for all smaller ponies and miniatures. With a second lower fitting at the required height on either one or both bays, you can alter the height of the front stall bar to make sure the smaller ones as well as the bigger ones can safely brace. This setup can be retrofitted.
