Meet the team

Andre, otherwise known as The Piano Man, has been working with Tranzit for over 22 years. His love of travel and the variety of scenery drew him to the role of driver and the elevated perspective of the high coaches enables him to provide his passengers with an engaging unique perspective on NZ. It’s hard for him to pinpoint one particular experience whilst away on our Tranzit Tours because he’s experienced so many enjoyable moments, however he does recall a pleasurable time he had at Ferrymead Heritage Park in Christchurch where the tram driver commandeered Andre and before you know it Andre was driving the tram! Andre’s passions are photography and music and if you’ve been on tour with Andre before you’ve most likely had the pleasure of listening to his musical talents whilst he plays the piano at the hotel bar before dining at the restaurant. Andre loves to meet new people and pays a lot of attention to the small details giving our customers a top-notch driving experience.

Upcoming Tour

Sit back and relax whilst we weave our way through the stunning scenery of the Peep-o-Day corner and the Inland Patea Heritage Trail before traversing the famous Gentle Annie Road winding our way past sheep and cattle stations such as Timahanga Station. The Herb Farm Tour

The day begins at Palmerston North’s Museum and art gallery, Te Manawa. Among the treasures is a fabulous exhibition on the Manawatu River. Over the Christmas break, some of our Tranzit Tours team set out on the Christmas in Canterbury tour. We explored gems throughout the Canterbury region including from Banks Peninsula and Akaroa. We also had a Christmas Day adventure in the High Country.

This tour provides the opportunity to travel the ‘Northern Scenic’ route on the Northern Explorer train from Wellington to Taumarunui, and we will be covering varied attractions on this short break in Ohakune. Home, safe and sound

The rich volcanic soils of Taranaki boast some of the best gardens in the country. We visited at the height of spring, amid the flush of new seasons’ growth and the colourful flurry of rhododendron flowering. The tour was packed with gardens to visit, from large country gardens to compact town allotments, from formal to enchantingly casual, the tour will delight.

Home, safe and sound

We recently returned home from discovering the highlights of sunny Nelson, magic of Marlborough and the gorgeous Golden Bay on our Top of the South Tour. We saw the history, art and nature that collided in this fabulous part of the world as we meet craftspeople and artisans, and cruised on the Pelorus Sound and the unmissable Abel Tasman and enjoyed a day out on Farewell Spit – a world renowned nature reserve that is always a special highlight of this tour.

We had awesome weather for our Lake Rotoiti day trip on Wednesday!

Everyone enjoyed themselves on the Airstream boat cruise around Lake Rotoiti and behind the scenes in the Trevelyan's Kiwifruit & Avocado Packhouse.

Everyone was blown away by some of the stats. There were 11 million trays of Golden Kiwifruit packed last season in that packhouse alone! 20-40 fruit per tray!

Upcoming Tour

Rural splendour takes on epic proportions on the big sheep stations of the south. We visit Mt Nicholas on Lake Wakatipu, two iconic stations at Lake Wanaka, a traditional station in the heart of the Mackenzie Basin and spend a fabulous day exploring farming properties on the edges of the Canterbury Plains. Historic Mesopotamia Station in the Canterbury high country is a special highlight. We do stress though that this is another of our back-country adventures, so expect to really get in touch with nature. A level of basic fitness and mobility, together with a flexible attitude, is strongly recommended.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Sam has taken many opportunities since arriving in New Zealand 20 years ago. From being a ranger for the Department of Conservation to owning a café and food truck, Sam has also kept himself busy volunteering for the Cancer Society, the Samaritans and Keep Carterton Beautiful! Sam is looking forward to creating memorable travel experiences for our customers.
