Raking in a whopping 1446 sunshine hours to date this year, we’re not lying when we tell you the weather is beautiful here all year round.

You can still enjoy the crisp, clear days in the Abel Tasman in winter, watch the sun set on the horizon at Farewell Spit in Autumn, or dine alfresco on the waterfront in Spring.

You may have heard about the big fire that is burning to the south of Nelson. It is currently under control but strong winds expected this afternoon could cause some continued burning. There are an army of people working hard to bring the fire under control. Our thoughts go out to all the workers and evacuees! We are currently still fully operational and transport in and out of Nelson is still ok. If you have any questions about your stay give us a call.

The Crow’s Nest sits above our other accommodations and our guests are rewarded with uninterrupted views of Tasman Bay and the Western Ranges.
Although this is the last of our accommodations that we are highlighting in these posts, it certain is not the least as it’s our biggest.
The Crow’s Nest is a split-level design with a bedroom located on each level, open kitchen and dining area, and private sun deck. The deck is equipped with a BBQ and outdoor furniture, so our guests can relax and enjoy the views.

The Chart House is our only accommodation that has two units, and in this post, we are turning the spotlight on to the Main Deck.
The Main Deck is a spacious one-bedroom apartment, with views of Tasman Bay and the Western Ranges that can be seen through the numerous large picture windows.
Like all of our accommodations it has a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, and a private deck that opens from the lounge.
The Chart House-Main Deck’s lounge area and kitchen open onto the private outdoor area that is equipped with a BBQ and table, which makes it a perfect spot for eating meals outside. Plus, you just can’t beat that view!

For today’s post we are turning the spotlight onto the Upper Deck of The Chart House. The Chart House is a purpose-built two-level house which consists of the Upper Deck and Main Deck.
The Chart House Upper Deck is a spacious top floor apartment that can comfortably accommodate 5-6 people. The kitchen and living room are designed in an open plan style which means there are fantastic views of Tasman Bay from every room. For those of you who enjoy sitting in the quiet outdoors there is a private outdoor garden area that is the perfect spot for a relaxing meal.

The first accommodation that we are featuring is the Lookout.
The Lookout sleeps up to 5 people comfortably and is a stand-alone unit. It has a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, deck with a BBQ as well as home entertainment system.
Like all of our accommodations, the Lookout has spectacular views of Tasman Bay and the Western Ranges.

In our last post we mentioned that a good place to purchase fresh produce and other locally made products is at our own Nelson Market. If you are planning a trip to Nelson, make sure you are here for a weekend, so you can visit the Nelson Market yourself.
The market has been around for almost 40 years and offers Nelson’s best, ranging from produce to arts and crafts.
You can also get a cup of coffee and a fresh baked good to munch on while you wander the market.

Did you know that all of our luxury accommodations are self-contained?

The Nelson region offers such a large variety of locally grown produce, gourmet foods, wines and boutique beverages, that it’s easy to pick up a few items and make a gourmet meal in one of our fully equipped kitchens.
We've included images of each kitchen in this post.

Some of our favourites are:
*Fresh Bread: Make sure to stop by Rodrigo’s on Hardy street, or you can find them at the Saturday Market.

*Fresh Vegetables: The Saturday Market should be your first stop, but we also like Benge & Co in the Montgomery Car park.

*Gourmet Foods: There is a wide selection of Mediterranean foods at Comida’s on Collingwood Street.

*Seafood: Guytons on Rock Road, of course!

*Sausages: Doris’ is our go-to and can be found at the Saturday Market or New World Supermarket on Vanguard.

If this is your mantra, then we have the perfect bike riding adventure for you.
Check out the Tasman Great Taste Trail, which starts at the Nelson Airport. There are a variety of trails to ride, with varying distances and gradients.
Our favorite is to ride to Rabbit Island and take the ferry over to Mapua for lunch.
Following your day in the saddle, you can relax by enjoying the stunning views from any one of our luxury accommodations.

This guide has information on when certain wineries are open, their locations as well as the distance from central Nelson.
