Two places available at Unitec Dance 2024
This is a shout out to our Dance students who have left school.
This is a fabulous opportunity. Here are some details.:
Kia ora dance Kaiako,
There are still 2 places available to study at Unitec Dance this year. We appreciate your support in contacting any young dancers that you know that may want to study dance with us. These dancers may have graduated high school a few years ago and lost their confidence – please reassure them that they will be fully supported throughout the process by Katie Burton (Discipline Leader for Dance).
We have an outstanding year at Unitec planned – our Year 1’s will be taught by a range of industry professionals including dancers from Atamira Dance Company, Zoe White, Daniel Cooper, Rachel Ruckstahl-Mann, Clare Luiten, Charles Koroneho, and Geoff Gilson. They will participate in physical dance classes in both dance technique and choreography. They will stay overnight at our wonderful Unitec marae Te Noho Kotahitanga and enjoy collaborative classes with Acting and Screen Arts students. They will work closely with our Year 2 students, fostering a whānau environment. They will make dance films, collaborative and solo choreography as well as learn set repertoire. They will perform throughout the year, culminating in a graduation season choreographed by professional choreographers at Te Pou Theatre.
We will endeavour to make the application and enrolment process as easy as possible, including travelling to where they are or supporting them through an online audition process.
