We changed the Gondolas for Moliceiros, colourful boats traditionally used for seaweed-harvesting, and now we have our Portuguese Venice. The city of Aveiro is crossed by a network of channels, and the buildings in Art Nouveau makes it even more beautiful. And when you're there, don't forget to taste the “ovos moles" (soft eggs).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There is a giant Iberian lynx in Lisbon. This beautiful work from the portuguese urban artist, Bordalo II, was built entirely from rubbish. And there's more....spread throughout Lisbon are several of his animal sculptures, integrated in the “Big Trash Animals” initiative. There are also pieces in Loures, Vila Nova de Gaia, Covilhã and Estarreja. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Brasil has the Carnival Parade, Lisbon has the Popular Marches. For one night, the people from neighbourhoods of old Lisbon parade on the main avenue, to the sound of traditional music, colorful outfits, singing with all their energy. Good news for the environment: 10 new Iberian lynx cubs have been born in the Guadiana Valley, confirmed the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forests. The Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) is a wild cat species native to the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe that is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.

Bacalhau à Bras is one of the most famous ways to prepare salted cod.
It’s easy to prepare and delicious. What you need is salted cod, potatoes and eggs.
First you need to soak the cod in water for 12 to 24 hours. Change the water once or twice during the process. Then, remove the skin and the bones and separate the cod into flakes with your hands.
In the meantime, slice the onions in fine rings and cut the potatoes into matchsticks. Fry the potatoes in a pan and set them aside. Remove the oil, drying them in kitchen paper.
In a large and deep pan, heat 10 tablespoons of olive oil. Sweat the onions and the garlic until they get golden. Then add the pieces of salted cod and cook for 5 or 6 minutes until the cod soaks up the oil.
Now it’s time to add the potatoes, the slightly beaten eggs (like for an omelet), a punch of salt and pepper. Stir for a few minutes and turning off the heat before the eggs cook completely.
Serve with parsley and olives.

If you decide to come to Portugal, probably a few things pop into your mind – Sun, wine, seafood and … hummm … Azulejos! You might don’t know about them, but, for sure you have seen a few in guide books and postcards. These glassy ceramic tiles are pieces of art (at least some of them) and are widely spread in towns and villages alike. They are part of Portuguese culture and heritage.
