Next summer, TAP is going to reinforce the connections between Porto and Brazil 🇧🇷, with another flight a week to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. According to the statement sent by the air carrier this Wednesday, from that date onwards, Porto “will have three weekly flights to São Paulo and will now have two flights a week to Rio de Janeiro, which will contribute to a growth in the number of tourists 💺💺💺 from Brazil 🇧🇷 who will visit the 'Invicta'”.

Portugal: Home to Happy Expats

Portugal is home to some of the happiest expats worldwide: 84% are happy with their life in general, compared to a global average of 75%. They enjoy the high quality of life, ranking Portugal 3rd out of 59 destinations in this index.
Expats particularly appreciate the local leisure options (87% positive replies vs. 72% globally) and the sunny climate and weather (90% vs. 66% globally). Nearly four in five (79%) are also happy with their own socializing and leisure activities
(vs. 67% globally). A further 96% describe the country as peaceful (vs. 80% globally), and 97% feel safe there (vs. 84% globally). "It's a safe and peaceful place," a British expat confirms. "It's very beautiful with great food, music, culture, and scenery."

Podium ceremony took thousands of people to Marginal de Matosinhos

The podium ceremony of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2021 took place once again at the Marginal de Matosinhos, at a few hundred meters from Porto municipality, and counted on thousands of people who went to the marginal to watch the consecration of the WRC drivers and admire the cars on display.

Porto and its surroundings is once again an ideal place to celebrate great events.

Did you know?

On 7 and 8 May 2021, EU leaders met in Porto for their informal summit.

On 7 May, following the high-level conference held by the Portuguese presidency, EU leaders discussed COVID-19 and international relations. On 8 May, social affairs were on the agenda. Leaders adopted the Porto declaration on social issues.

With a total area of about 13 hectares, the new Botanical Park of Campo Alegre integrates the gardens of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), the garden of the Primo Madeira house and the Botanical Garden of the University of Porto.

Among the botanical treasures of this park, there are about 500 species identified in the green spaces of the Faculty of Sciences and 1500 species in the Botanical Garden.

This great renovation took place at the end of 2020 and is finally available to visitors!

This bridge, as of today, is the world largest pedestrian one with more than half a kilometer span across the pillars.
I was there on the inauguration day.

It was meant to be opened to public already in 2020 but two events delayed its lauch.
1. COVID restrictions and
2. the technical assessemnt of its initial design highlighted that, although fully safe, its natural sideways swing and its pivoting around its main lenghts axis, was going to be too scary for the majority of the visitors.

I have a great number of shots, but, to be honest, I recommend the experience in first person.

It is about 1h drive from Porto and, if I can make a great recomnendation, riding to there is better than driving to.

Covid-19 risk map in Portugal from today (06.04.2021) shows higher risk areas being within Alentejo and Algarve while Porto and surrounding areas were able to strongly contain the diffusion of the virus through exemplary behaviour by the citizens.

On March 19th, two commemorative dates are celebrated: Father's Day and World Artisan Day. To celebrate both, we highlight several art forms typical from Porto and the North of Portugal, which are passed down from generation to generation, from father to son/daughter.

The "Festas de São João" do Porto won the prize for "Best Festivity" at the 5th edition of the Iberian Festival Awards, whose ceremony took place Q4-2020 in an online version, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

The public voted and the São João do Porto Festivals were awarded straight the first time they participated in the Iberian Festival Awards, the event organized by APORFEST - Portuguese Association of Music Festivals, which annually distinguishes the best music festivals and events in Portugal and Spain.

This year (2021) it is very unlikely that this marvellous and colorful festival will take place with the usual floods of people and spectacular fireworks.

Nevertheless the locals will likely be consuming with their families dozens of tons of grilled sardines, as the tradition commands.
