What it is to live on the 44th floor of the first Slovakia’s skyscraper, Eurovea tower?

Well, first of all, I have to say, the view is pretty stunning. Not only the Old town, but the whole city is right at your fingertips.

The whole building is 168 m ( more than 551 feet ) tall, on 46 floors you can find exactly 408 apartments, powered by 6 fast elevators. It takes only one second to pass 2 floors.

Eurovea tower is part of the Eurovea City , a new city center, that can positively change the city beyond its recognition.

Big thanks goes to my friend and talented deaf photographer AMKOPhotography for managing our meeting and to JTRE for giving us the opportunity to visit the apartment and share you some details about our first skyscraper in Slovakia. I just read, they became recently the most successful developer for residential real estate sales in Bratislava in the first 6 months of this year.

Not many of the apartments are left, you gotta hurry to get one before it is too late.

In the meantime, enjoy the view.

If you are scared of heights as I am, you will feel better taking pictures from the ground…

Here we are!

One small step for a man, one giant leap for my clients, my project and all people involved in it ( ( like AMKOPhotography for taking care of my pictures, Viktor Králik for helping me out with graphic design and Arcadia boutique hotel Bratislava for giving me opportunity to show your clients our country).

This way I would like to thank all my clients, visitors, travelers from all around the world as you guys rated me among the top 10% of listings on Tripadvisor. I hope, time we spent together was worth it.

As the band, from the late 50s, The Impressions sings in of their songs: I've got to keep on pushing, I can't stop now...

Attention, border! is the new exhibition at the Devín castle.

If you want to find out who used the term of the Iron Curtain for the first time, who was considered to be an intruder with his/her punishment or read some interesting stories about crossing the boarder, not always with a happy ending, this is the right place to visit.

If I have to pick up one fact, there were 7 guards watching the boarder within 1 km ( 0.62 mi ) under Devín. You can combine the visit with their local blackcurrant wine and the Gate of Freedom.

A fact is that this day is celebrated on 8th of May here but in Russia on 9th of May.

Well deserved?

Bratislava got to the list of top 10 most boring cities in the world. Of course, there is space for some improvement, but this one is a bit arguable. Do you agree?

Some cities just don’t live up to the rest, and our list of the ten most boring cities in the world is ideal for boring people!

Today, we would be celebrating birthday of Jozef Gabčík.

For those who have never heard about him, he, together with Ján Kubiš, killed The Butcher of Prague aka N**i Germany's third man, Reinhard Heydrich!

About the Operation Anthropoid I will share you some more information next month, exactly on the day of assassination…

More to come in my 20th century tour.
Stay tuned!

City of is inviting you to the event of coming to life the biggest fountain in Slovakia today.

At the same time, the presidential garden reopens its door after nearly 2 years of reconstruction. Their rich program starts at 14:00 with a concert, followed by a tour about the extraordinary history of the garden and many children workshops.

It is literally 2 min of walking distance from our Freedom square.

Enjoy!

4th of April 1945 was exactly the day when Bratislava got liberated by the Red Army.

However, the Soviet liberation remains mixed feelings in the eyes of many Slovaks until today, as on one side there is respect for those soldiers who fought and died for the country, on the other side the Communist Party supported by the Soviets took the power of Czechoslovakia in 1948, followed by the Warsaw Pact invasion 20 years later in 1968.

This inscription on the wall could be found in Slavín memorial.

More than 170 years ago, Danube river showed us its power again, as many times before.

This time, the flood on February 5th in 1850 was one of the biggest, the city ever experienced.

Next time you are walking through the Old town, you can try to find all the marks dedicated to the flood. They are pretty easy to find as they are close to each other.

Let's start this year with a nice exhibition Sixties in Bratislava at the Bratislava city museum.

Their aim is to illustrate, as the name says, sixties in the history of our city. It is definitely worth visiting. There are many interesting informations to learn, I just picked up few of them for you.

Did you know that our football club Slovan Bratislava won Uefa Cup Winners Cup against Barcelona in the finals in 1969?

Or The Dior fashion house held a show back in 1966 here?

Jean-Paul Sartre with his partner Simone de Beauvoir visited our city as well during sixties.

Thanks to Bratislavská lýra, our Czechoslovak festival of popular songs, international celebrities like Sandie Shaw, The Easybeats, Beach Boys or Cliff Richard could make it here through the sixties too.

Can you see those waiting people on the last picture? Well, they wait for sale of CKM tours for the year 1969... Pretty stunning.

Not enough? There are still many more things to discover.…
The exhibition runs until 1st of September, plenty of time for you.

Being in the Old town, you can still admire a big Menorah in front of the Holocaust memorial.

It is lit during the eight-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, also called as the Jewish festival of lights. Each night, one additional candle is lit.

Important to me, traditional food includes potato pancake called latke and a round fried jelly doughnut called sufganiyah.

17th of November 1989 was International Students day and the 50th anniversary of the N**i attack on The University of Prague when 9 students got killed.

The same day meant for us the beginning of Velvet Revolution.

A song translated as we promised each other love became an anthem for us back in November of 1989, so watch it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ8_PU06P6A

During the protests, people held keys in their hands and jingled farewell to the old regime.

On the picture you can see the plaque dedicated to the revolution on our Square of Slovak national uprising with the first phrase:

“Only those who struggle for their freedom are worthy of it”

16th of November 1989 and the former Mierové námestie. More than 200 students gathered and demonstrated for student and civil rights.

This march was actually not the direct beginning of the Velvet revolution, but it had its significance for the events in Prague the following day.

On the way they chanted:”We want freedom! We want so see reforms or Freedom of speech!”
Even it was a spontaneous demonstration, police did not intervene as it was on the other side in Prague, where the student protest was brutally suppressed. Lets talk about it tomorrow!

It's been 105 years since our first Czechoslovak republic was established. It lasted for only 20 years, but according to the economics and industry especially on the Czech territory, we belonged to the top 20 most developed countries in the world at that time.

It is pretty interesting to mention, that we do not celebrate a public holiday here in Slovakia but Czech do….

We all know where the statue of Schöne Naci is to be found in the Old town and some of us might know his story as well.

But did you know that you can find his grave at Ondrejský cintorín? Today we remember the day he passed away.

If you take a stroll through the cemetery, you can discover many interesting people like our Bratislava/Pressburger Robinson or Henry Prüger, whom we are thankful for Hotel Carlton. For example he rests just next to Július Satinský.

I think I will share with you his story pretty soon.

After 2 years of reconstruction, Michael's Gate is back in the game!

Today, The Bratislava city museum reopens one of our most popular highlights of the Old Town. The museum of Arms will not return to the tower, this new temporary exhibition will be about the renovation and history of the Michael's Gate.

I must admit, the view is pretty stunning from the top, go up and enjoy it!

You got less than 3 weeks to see the original statue of Maximilian II, the first crowned King in Bratislava back in the day in the 16th century.

The one you always see on his fountain, while passing the Main square, its just his copy.

Before I forget to tell you, you can find him in the entrance area of the Old Town Hall until 30th of September!

What was the last time you enjoyed this view?
In case, you haven’t been up here yet, all you need to do is just to visit the oldest sacral building in the Old town, the Franciscan church.

Don't miss out to see the crypts, temple treasury as well.
Going up to the tower will cost you only 1€, so not a big deal.

Have you visited the biggest cathedral in Slovakia already?

I had a tour in Košice last weekend, so here are some pros why you should visit.

- 5000 worshippers can get in

- The oldest monument preserved its the baptimal font. Its been
used for more than 600 years and the years keep adding up.
Of course I forgot to take a picture of that...

- František II. Rákoci, who led the biggest anti-Habsburg uprising
in the former Kingdom of Hungary, is burried in the crypt. What
I was told, only his chest is there. As 170 years after his death,
the rest of his body was brought back from Turkey to Košice

- Gothic double spiral staircase, one of just five of its kind in
Europe and these are the oldest one

and many more...

What a funny tour it was!

Last Saturday I had a chance to take care of 14 Belgians from Joker travel agency.
Even their night train was cancelled ( its part of the game sometimes ), they somehow managed to come to Bratislava on time, well done!

One would say, they were tired but nobody showed that and we really did have a good time together.
We spent more that 3 hours of exploring all the highlights of the Old Town and could squeeze in between a beer stop at Drink In Gallery Andy.

Thank you Erik Kempenaers for your smooth cooperation, everything worked out perfectly, great job!
