Great experience, the car was in very good conditions but the real game changer was our amazing guide Isaac Long, whose experience led us to see the most rare and amazing animals. First of all, many travellers will want to know that Savannah Explorers is a reliable, trustworthy company. I have checked the company before booking with them: it is duly registered at the Tourism Board with all the necessary licenses and has also the business licenses to operate in Tanzania. Overall there are no issues to transfer your money, which can be quite a significant amount for a family. It was certainly my main concern for any company as you have to transfer money in advance for the booking. Based on my experience I can give other travellers 100% peace of mind for that. Savannah Explorers is an Italian-Tanzanian joint venture, that is growing, and operates about 20 cars as of today. It is not the largest, nor the least expensive, but I can say for us, a family of 5, to see Tarangire NP / the Great Migration (South Serengeti / Ndutu at this time of year in February is the best area) / as well as Ngorongoro crater it was the perfect pick for a 5-day safari.Agustin was our travel journey designer and together after discussing many questions and having several versions before finalizing the trip he came up with the perfect journey proposal at a reasonable price compated to other tour operators. Agustin was always reacheable, even for providing an optional offer during our trip, reactive, and professional, available via email and Whatsapp, thanks for that!Then, the true safari experience is made by the driver. We had Maulid (Mau) who was guiding us in the national parks, driving us safely around the bumpy and sometimes muddy roads and off-road, and made our trip just unforgettable. He added so much value to our trip! Perfect time management, to start with. Always making the most out of all days, not hesitating to drive even long hours to catch a good sight or see a special animal. Always planning ahead, informing us about every aspect of the day and discussing the next day together. Making great recommendations. Then, importantly, Mau has extensive local knowledge of the animals, the birds, the trees, the national parks road area, the time of the year, and he has a "GPS in his head". Thanks to him, we have seen it all: the big5, the ugly 5. Alltogether during our trip, we counted 22 lions and 5 rhinos! In Ngorongoro, a male lion actually walked up to our car. Often we were among the first to arrive at the best spots. Mau was also understanding and helpful for any small requests we had during the day due to the kids.The advantage of Ndutu in February is that you are allowed to get off the main road, that gave us a lot of unforgettable experiences, like seeing 3 cheetah standing up to hunt a herd of wildebeest - as this time of the year predators are following the great migration. Thank you for being a great guide and person Mau!Our jeep was well-equipped, large, clean, comfortable, and the roof that can be opened is just a must if you are on a safari (most cars have it!). The only minor issue we had during our trip was a flat tyre, that got resolved by Mau in 10-15 min. Considering the off-road conditions, that is just a normal part of any Tanzanian safari trip.Overall we had a fantastic trip with Agustin, Mau and Savannah Explorers: highly recommended!

Awesome experience and an amazing guide, Gerry (would give home more stars if I could). The entire trip exceeded expectations and felt like we became good friends with Gerry. His knowledge of the parks and animals we saw was truly impressive. Amazing 5D4N trip organized with Agustin from Savannah Explorers, with Maulid (Mau) as our fantastic, knowledgeable guide and driver. We visited Tarangire NP (elephant heaven!), Ndutu/South Serengeti (for the Great Migration and calving in February!), as well as Ngorongoro crater (amazing concentration of wildlife), and Lake Manyara (tropical forest scenery). We have seen the Big5 and the Ugly5, and so much more, thanks to Mau: some unforgettable sights, such as herd of elephants crossing the road, a group of cheetah getting ready to hunt, male lions and rhinos roaming around Ngorongoro, with a male lion walking up to our car, leopard feasting on an impala, lions resting on trees, flamingos around Lake Ndutu, as well as hyena and vultures feeding on a zebra, just to name a few, next to the scenic views and the thousands of zebra and wildebeest around this area at this time of the year. The accomodations (Baobab Tarangire, KonTiki Ndutu migration camp, Tortilis Ngorongoro and Marera Mountain View Lodge) all had their unique charm and high-level comfort and service. Both the gastronomy and the local staff were exceptional making sure you are both safe and well taken care of. We received some great recommendations from Mau (such as not to miss a short visit to a Masai Village). His safe driving, time management, and dedication to make the best of our trip, together with his local knowledge made our vacation an unforgettable lifetime experience.I have also made another detailed review on the Winter Migration tour page! Savannah Explorer's team is highly recommended for your safari trip to Tanzania!
