TIME FLIES SO FAST!!!!!!!
It has been 18years now since I decided to pursue my carrier into the tourism industry as a local tour operator in my country. I'm so proud I chose this path to be able to show the world how rich and blessed my Tanzania is, we have the HIGHEST FREE STANDING MOUNTAIN IN THE WORLD leaving aside the LARGEST SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK and so many other tourist attractions found here. I have been to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro atleast 300times up to now but the hike, the view, the happiness never gets old. HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN DAY ⛰

FACTS ABOUT WILDEBEEST MIGRATION.

Did you know........!???

1. The Great Migration sees over 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,00 zebra and a host of other antelope travelling cross country.
2. Between January and March, half a million wildebeest are born each year in the Serengeti. In February, the month with the highest calving rate, around 8,000 wildebeest are born each day.
3. The Great Migration is the largest overland migration in the world. The animals travel a total of 800km or more during each cycle.
4. While the migration may seem like a chaotic frenzy of movement, research has shown a herd of wildebeest possess what is known as ‘swarm intelligence’, where the wildebeest systematically explore and overcome an obstacle as one.
5. The reason why zebra and wildebeest graze in harmony together is because they each eat different parts of the same type of grass.
6. Because wildebeest have no natural leader, the migrating herd often splits up into smaller herds that circle the main, mega-herd, going in different directions. When considering these smaller, split herds the whole migration can cover over half of the whole Serengeti.
7. The Serengeti National Park eco-system is the oldest on the planet. It boasts a diversity of plants and animals that is unavailable anywhere else on the globe.
8. During the migration around 250,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra are killed off every year as a result of predation by carnivores, but also from thirst, hunger, and exhaustion.
9. The crocodiles awaiting the herds in the Mara River drown their prey by clutching them in their strong jaws and pulling them below the water, twisting them to break off bite-size pieces. A crocodile can lunge more than half of its body length out of the water to grab a potential victim and can also use its tail as a secondary weapon.
10. There are more than 3,000 lions currently living in the Serengeti ecosystem that follow the migratory herds across the reserve.

FACTS ABOUT ELEPHANTS
Did you know........!???

1. The African elephant is not just the largest living land animal but it has an enormous brain size to match. Their brains can weigh up to a whopping 5.4kg and are, without doubt, the largest brain of all animals living on land.
2. Need help remembering which is an African elephant and which is an Asian elephant? Check out their ears! African elephant ears are, rather helpfully, the shape of Africa.
3. Have you ever seen an elephant swim? It’s pretty special! But not only can they swim, did you know they’ve also been spotted using their trunks as a snorkel when crossing rivers?! Now that’s handy…
4. Elephant family groups are very close. While they can’t exactly hug each other, elephants do wrap their trunks around younger relatives to reassure them and to greet each other they twine their trunks together.
5. Elephants are super smart! They can both learn and feel emotions. If a member of their family group is injured, the rest of the group may come and help it. They also know when a family member is no longer in the herd and it’s a truly heart-breaking sight to see an elephant grieve over the bones of lost family and friends.
6. Female elephants have the longest pregnancy of any mammal. It’s a lengthy 22 months before baby elephants are ready to be born!
7. Baby elephants stay with mum for up to 10 years. They even learn to eat by putting their trunks inside their mothers’ mouths to take food.
8. Did you know elephants can get sunburned? Ouch! These giants bathe in mud to help protect their skin from the sun.
9. You definitely don’t want to get in the way of a charging elephant. It’s said they can reach speeds of 40km/h!
10. Elephants make sounds that we can’t even hear. Some of their calls are so low, they are below the range of human hearing. And these amazing animals can recognise over 100 different friends from their calls alone.

"You don't only come to see, you come to learn too."
