* Sykes`s lark males can mimic the voices of up to 34 species of other birds.

The whale shark (in Kiswahili: Papapotwe) holds many records for it's sheer size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living non-mammalian vertebrate. The species are also reported to have originated about 60 million years ago. Contrary to their size, whale sharks' main food is plankton which are very small sea organisms that are mostly invisible to the eye. Plankton include bacteria, archea, algae, protozoa and drifting or floating animals that inhabit , for example the pelagic zone of oceans, seas, or bodies of fresh water. The mammals are found mainly in the Mafia Islands as their permanent habitat in East Africa.
If we are to properly promote these attractions in the oceans and lakes and equip not just East African people but all people with knowledge, it is likely that more will take the initiative to exploit the wealth.

Elephants have roamed the wild for 15 million years, but today this iconic species face the biggest threat to survival due to continued ivory poaching. As long as there is a demand for ivory, elephants continue to be killed for their tusks. Today it is estimated up to 25,000 elephants are killed annually. This could lead to a localized extinction of the Elephants hence impacting negatively on the ecosystem and also depriving the many communities that are dependent on Tourism, of income. We as a people should say 'NO' to this poaching vice, and be vigilant, so as to enable these great creatures to thrive.

More corals are dying and others are succumbing to disease and predators after the worst-ever bleaching on the iconic Great Barrier Reef. Long biodiverse sites off the Queensland state coast died after an unprecedented bleaching earlier this year as sea temperatures rose.The reef is already under pressure from farming run-off, development, the coral-eating crown-of-thorns starfish as well as the impacts of climate change, At this rate of exponential bleaching, there is cause to worry for the future of the natural wonder.
