About Chernobyl Zone
Chernobyl – the name of this ancient town suddenly flew around the world in the spring of 1986, and to this day is still synonymous with the infected, dangerous and mysterious land “the Zone”. More than thirty years ago this huge territory was surrounded by barbed wire, with checkpoints, with abandoned towns and villages, with a wild nature and an invisible enemy – radiation. As the result of a lack of information and very few photos and video reports from the Zone, this restricted area has created a lot of myths and legends.
Since the late 1990s, the Zone was only accessible for official study visits, but, at the beginning of 2000s some tourists have begun to join biologists, radiologists, and journalists. Some got enough of an impression from the one visit, but others, even before leaving the Zone, already knew they would be back again.
At that time the standard introductory program was extremely simple; the visitor could only spend a couple hours in the Zone, but that was not enough for us. We tried to maximize the trip’s activities as much as possible within the terms of the Administration of the Exclusion Zone. When that wasn’t enough, we made trips for two or even three days. We have created a new style and the best type of tour: where the excursion smoothly advances to the next level, where the level of the expedition goes to the remote corners of the Chernobyl Polesye area, where your neighbors in the bus become friends. We have filled our tour routes with many amazing scenes, so now you also can see an abandoned church in the village of Krasno, a quiet recreation center “Emerald” in a picturesque pine forest, gloomy workshops of the “Jupiter” factory, and the peaceful shores of a cooling pond. We have found rare books and publications, collected testimonies from former residents of Pripyat city and the real liquidators, and communicated with specialists working within the Exclusion Zone to share this knowledge with you.
