We are preparing our 2nd motanka charity exhibition in Japan «100 motanka’s for Peace». Organized and fuelled by super-energetic Ms.Anna Inoue.

Together with beautiful Ukrainian culture, told by motanka dolls, this exhibition will present stories about our reality. So people can see through culture, what you all saw today in awful news, how Russians are continue to attack and kill civilians.

Poster starring motanka by Larysa Didyk for her strong message. Master was inspired by very powerful project of Garry Efimov (in comments). We even wanted to exhibit original dress of motanka-women from that project, but it now serves as guarding talisman in masking nets for our defenders.

This charity project aimed to tell the world about rich Ukrainian culture and collect donations to help Ukrainian children, suffered by war.

Day of Ukrainian Defenders this year moved from 14oct to 1st of October, today.
We endlessly thankfull to our defenders, who are daily risking their life for us and paying most expensive price - life - for our freedom...

Cultural diplomacy.  
Proud to be Ukrainian co-organizer of this charity project in Japan. 1st in series of cultural charity exhibitions “100 motanka’s for Peace” in Japan just finished. More to come. 

July and August we served as “motanka hub”, receiving and sending them all the time, in total 99 works were sent from Ukraine. Also there were works from Japan and other countries. 

We are extremely thankful to Ms.Anna Inoue from Japan, who initiated and fullfilled this project "100_motanka_for_Peace"

She is main engine and soul of it.

Project includes several exhibitions, master-classes for cultural exchange: making motanka’s in Japan and making origami in Ukraine, master-classes as art-therapy for children in shelters for temporary Ukrainian refugee and charity fundraising for Ukrainian children. 

On the way we met fantastic people with their moving stories, how they make motanka’s during 1st days and weeks of war, how they made master-classes in metro, which was/is bomb-shelter for families, who lived there in 1st week’s of war. It was both heartbreaking and inspiring. I learned a lot about motanka’s and happy about this cultural wave. 

We highly appreciate of contribution of all people, supported the project, especially all the masters, who provided their master-pieces.

They do impressive things with really powerful messages, including beautiful projects like map of Ukraine with motanka’s and important about the history: “War chronicles by dolls”, “Story of Crimean Tatars”, “Unborn babies: story of Holodomor (huge artificial famine in Ukraine, made by soviets), really powerful things. We recommend you to visit these in Ukraine or organize such exhibition in your country. We will gladly help you to arrange exhibition

Can you suggest that this painting (1st in carousel) is about the war? Can you guess the Author? Artist’s personal note about this picture says: “Parrots hum. Our boys go to the Army. Our dear soldiers. Noone would like to go, bur Motherland calls. Serve not yearn and protect your Motherland and your family"

Painted and written in 1987 year. Was it prophetic or reminiscence about World War II?

“Maria paints: 100 works of Maria Prymachenko”, the special just finished in this week. Maria Prymachenko was famous Ukrainian artist, worked in naïve style.  We used to see her paintings of fantastic beasts and flowers, which she is famous for, but these 100 paintings shows us a lot of pain of almost whole XX century, she lived in.

Maria lived through both World Wars and Chornobyl nuclear disaster as she lived very close to Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Artist made series of paintings dedicated to war and Chornobyl. She carried this pain through years, as some works are dated 1990th. Paintings are allegoric as everything, she made. Despite of sad topics paintings are in her bright, colourful, unique creative style. So you have to go deeper to understand. She left notes on every painting with explanations.

For us these works are still less known. We didn’t paid attention before or maybe these works were not exhibited earlier. And now these topics are hot again: war and nuclear disaster. Now we can feel and understand it better than ever.

Phoenix was another Ukrainian Art object at BURNING MAN festival 2023. It was looking exactly like monuments in Ukraine now, preserved now in the wooden box. Art object was born through fire like .
According to Vitaliy Deynega, one of the author’s of this project: The allegory of this work is very simple. russians wanted to destroy us as a nation. But the fire hardened us. We came out of the fire and it only made us stronger. We were reborn through fire. And despite we didn’t not choose this for ourselves - but we managed and continue to manage every day.

When the spectators saw that there was something behind the pillar of fire and that the box was not empty, the crowd of spectators screamed loudly. It seems to me that we as a nation are somewhere at that point. The fire is still burning and trying to destroy us. We are hurt. We are scorched by the flames of war and death. But we are becoming stronger than ever.

The fire worked very well with the surface of the sculpture and now Phoenix's face seems to be covered with scars. But brave faces are only decorated with scars. The Burning Man team said they can't remember when they've had a cooler burn than this.

One of Ukrainian art objects at BURNING MAN this year: The Hedgehog Temple with personal things and stories of , killed in this . At the end of Burning Man festival, everything burnt. According to the legend, it help souls to get free. Such free souls are smoke , like on last picture.

🇫🇷 Parisian street artist Christian Ghemy, better known as C215, recently visited , where he created a lot of graffiti in Bucha, Gostomel and Kyiv on destroyed buildings.
In , the artist painted the graffiti "Freedom that leads the people" in the colors of Ukraine on the terrace of the Embassy of France, a work dedicated to Taras Shevchenko, as well as several graffiti against the background of destroyed buildings. So right now we are preparing for 🐣?

Following yesterday we decided to tell, how it is possible to make in way.
In recent decades, every year at Easter (as well as at Christmas), more and more different bright decorations and attributes appear to decorate our homes and table.

A large number of bunnies, rabbits, colored , chickens and so on are mostly made of plastic. And unfortunately, such products are the most popular.

Therefore, in order not to use so much of even on holidays (because we still use it all the time), we advise you to pay attention to ♻ Easter .
