Newborn baby gorilla

Meet the world’s newest baby mountain gorilla 🦍 born in the Bikingi Mountain Gorilla Family.

We are glad to share with you this first mobile image from our field team in Rushaga - Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda

The baby was born to Adult Female Mucecuru who is a member of the Bikingi gorilla group, famously known for the Gorilla Habituation Experience. The baby was first seen yesterday but is expected to have been born on the night of Friday, 2nd February 2024.

This new birth brings the total number of mountain gorillas in the family to 09 (nine) individuals. We congratulate Silverback Kaharata (the dad) and Mucecuru (the mom) as well as the whole Bikingi family on this great news. We wish the baby a long and happy life.

Dian Fossey would have been 92 years old. It’s very unfortunate that she is not here to see the results of her efforts, until December 26, 1985 when she was brutally murdered , Dian dedicated her life to saving mountain gorillas. As the mountain gorillas reached the lowest population of about 240 individuals in the wild , together with the then trophy hunting and gorilla meat trade , she was worried they would be extinct by the year 2000, but her sacrifice and legacy have ensured their survival today and gorilla numbers have grown to surpass 1000 individuals,

Happy Birthday, Hero

Many will remember the popular 1988 film 'Gorillas in the Mist' for its heart-wrenching narrative about the plight of Mountain gorillas living in the African jungle areas of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based on the book with the same title by renowned primatologist, conservationist and author Dian Fossey, this narrative helped to highlight the plight of these gentle giants. At the time, Fossey acknowledged that these apes were in grave danger of extinction due to poaching, habitat loss and as well as death in the crossfire of human warfare.

The Beautiful Uganda's National Bird

Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa. With its dense misty forests, snow-peaked mountains, glassy lakes and sprawling savannas, it's no wonder Winston Churchill dubbed this wonderful country the 'pearl of Africa'. While mountain gorillas are the allure for many visitors, there's an astounding variety of attractions for tourists. A land that is painted in 1,001 shades of green with fantastic natural scenery

An incredible gorilla trekking experience that I will never forget thanks to Musana Tours and Travel
The planning of the tour couldn't have been better tailored to my short period of just 4 days. This short period of time was perfectly organized and went exactly the same way. Starting with the pickup at the airport, all transfers, lodges and of course the gorilla trekking itself.

Communication was absolutely smooth and uncomplicated and an individual request on my part was also taken into account, which was definitely not part of the booked tour as standard (visiting the city of Kigali, before heading back to the airport).

All of this was available at the lowest price among all the offers I received.

I would like to briefly mention which lodges I stayed in, namely “Bweza Gorilla Lodge” and “Lake Bunyonyie Eco Resort”. These lodges were simply fabulous! With super nice staff, delicious food and fantastic rooms.

And also, a big shout out to Matiya, he got me everywhere safely and quickly and was a great companion.

All in all, I can 100% recommend Musana Tours And Travel! I always felt like I was in great hands, Richard and the entire team were not only very polite and courteous, you could chat with them about anything and have a lot of fun.
I would like to thank you for this wonderful experience and for making my short trip unforgettable.

Both Thumbs up!
