Brief Background About the Centre


Located just 6 kilometres away from Kisoro town in southwestern Uganda, Mutanda Eco Community Centre (M.E.C.C) is a community-owned eco-lodge located at the south shores of Lake Mutanda. The camp provides accommodation, camping facilities, and food. Because of the camp's proximity to Bwindi and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks, Mutanda Eco Community Centre is the perfect choice for accommodation for anyone considering mountain gorilla tracking.

We are excited to announce that adult female Kibande of the Rushegura mountain gorilla group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has given birth, bringing the number of gorillas in this family to 17. The baby, mother & father are all in perfect health.

It was such an honor & amazing day when Ngopatoursandtravel.com hosted a group from Netherlands. Our itinerary map was from Kampala proceed to Griffin falls camp Lugazi where we had Nature walk & Zip linning.. On our way still on the trip heading straight to Jinja we had to make a stopover for the Rolex, Roasted maize & roasted Chicken.... Our next stop was Jinja city!!!. Lots of fun & social networking.

One of the interesting places to visit while in Uganda would be the Equator Line. Being crossed by the Equator is the simple explanation for why Uganda has a warm Equatorial climate. The equator line can be crossed on your way to visit any of the National parks in Southwestern Uganda, such as Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable & Lake Mburo.

Kabaka's lake located in Ndeeba between Ring road and Nabunya road. This lake was dug on orders of kabaka Mwanga in the 1880 as an escape corridor to lake Victoria. This is the largest Excavated Lake in East Africa. Isn't beautiful? Come and take a look! 🇺🇬

Leopards are considered to be the most intelligent among the Big Four Cats, Lions,Tigers and Jaguars. This is tested through their abilities to avoid being captured by towns/villages that set up traps. Leopards easily evade and overcome these obstacles by continuing to take down any kind of livestock.

There was one case where in which a leopard feigned death when attacked by baboons, and then when one of the baboons went closer to inspect "the body", The Leopard killed it.
They are the most adaptable of the Big Four, Not so?

Is Antelope a deer? The difference is that deer antlers are branched and antelope horns are not. Antelopes belong to family Bovidae (as do sheep, goat and cattle), while deer belong to family Cervidae. Antelopes can be found in L.Mburo National Park - Western Uganda.
