Somalia is one of the very beautiful countries in Africa. It sits on the easternmost part of the continent.
1)- The country is officially called the “Federal Republic of Somalia,” but Somalia is more affectionately known as the “Horn of Africa.” It has a population of approximately 17 million people.
2)- Somalia is the Land of the Moon
The word “Somalia” is derived from two words: Soo and Maal, which mean go and milk, respectively. It is believed that Arabs used to travel to Somalia in search of precious metals, ivory, slaves, and other things. They named this country the Land of the Moon due to the abundance of gold

Do you know that Somalia has the longest coastline in Africa, spanning 3,333 km along the Indian Ocean? The country is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches on Earth

No, the UAE or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia do not have the most number of camels in the world. Somalia takes precedence with the biggest herd of over 6 million camels and is, therefore, one of the top producers and exporters of camel milk after Kenya and Mali

6)- Mogadishu is colloquially called “Xamar” a reference to the multiracial confederation consisting of Somalis, Arabians, Swahilis, Persians and South Asians.
7)- it is one of the ethnically most homogenous groups in the continent. 85% of the population is made up of Somalis while the rest comprise of Bajuns, Bravenese, Ethiopians, Yemenis, Indians, Italians, Persians, etc. The Bantus are the largest ethnic group.
8)- It has one of the highest fertility rates amongst countries worldwide, with every woman on an average bearing about 6 children. Cultures promote big families.
