Grey crowned cranes live in wetland and grassland habitats in eastern and southern Africa. Unfortunately this beautiful bird is listed as endangered, with the largest remaining populations in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and South Africa. Mates are monogamous, and if you have the pleasure of seeing a pair engaged in a mating dance, you are in for a treat.

: Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, famous for hosting the world’s largest population of Mountain Gorillas 🦍 is also one of the few last places on earth where the elusive African Forest Elephants (Loxodonta cyclotis) live?

Of the two species of African Elephants, Forest Elephants 🐘 are both smaller and more rare than their cousins, African Savanna Elephants (Loxodonta africana).

Unfortunately Forest Elephant populations across the African continent have faced a very steep decline and they now are rated critically endangered.

We continue to do all it takes to them.

It's a mountain gorilla BABY BOOM 🦍 in Uganda. Meet the newest member of the Christmas family in the Nkuringo sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. In this photo captured by our field team yesterday (16/05/2022), adult female Kiiza is seen holding her baby so dearly!

With this new birth, the number of mountain gorillas 🦍 in the Christmas family has grown to a total of eight. Kiiza was first spotted by our daily team of trackers with her healthy baby early on Monday morning. Both mother and father are in good health too.

Kiiza is a name given to a child who is born after twins. It is heartwarming to see her bring new life to earth, and is a testimony to the excellent work done by our teams, communities, and partners in conserving these iconic species. We wish them a long and healthy life. 🦍

How do you recognize a Topi? Look for its “blue jeans,” the darker markings on each of its legs. The Topi is a medium sized antelope. They are grass eaters and prey for lions, Hyenas, Leipards and Cheetahs.

Side-stripped Jackal. This is one of the canine native of Sub-Saharan Africa 🌍. Unlike the smaller and related Black-backed Jackals, which dwells in open plains, the Side-stripped Jackal primarily dwells in Woodland and shrub areas.
They hunt small mammals, birds,reptiles and scavenge from kills by large predators. They most live alone or in pairs and only sometimes can be seen in packs.
