The Greater Blue-eared Starling is one of the glossy starlings species found in Africa.
There are four accepted subspecies:
Lamprotornis chalybaeus chalybaeus — Sahel region
Lamprotornis chalybaeus cyaniventris — northeastern Africa
Lamprotornis chalybaeus nordmanni — southern Africa
Lamprotornis chalybaeus scyobius — central and East Africa

This one in particular was photographed from western Uganda around Lake Mburo National Park .

Male Violet-backed Starling (Cinnyricinclus leucogaster)
One of those odd-looking Starlings you wouldn’t expect to belong to this beautiful family of iridescent blue birds. Especially the females that are brown with white underside with brown streaks.
Can be seen throught the year.
