The newest mural on Second Gear features Unca basketball players Drew Pember and Jamon “Doc” Battle Drew was the Big South player of the year from Knoxville, TN. Doc from Richmond, VA is a defensive specialist, a grinder. He’s not the star or a big scorer, but he’s a leader on the team and a great representative of UNC Asheville.
After meeting with several professional mural artists, we ultimately connected with UNC Asheville student artists Luisa “Lulu” Marin and Jeremiah Meyer. They both specialize in painting but neither had designed and painted a mural. It was a great opportunity for us to give them the opportunity to expand their artistic experience, for us to further connect with UNC Asheville beyond the Athletics Department
