The good news is... we are NOT expecting any overwash problems on NC12 from Hurricane Earl, which is forecast to strengthen and pass east of Bermuda this week. The bad news is we ARE expecting dangerous rip currents all along the Outer Banks for several days... possibly even into next week. Please, if you're going to the beach any time soon. stay out of the water. Go to https://www.weather.gov/beach/mhx for the latest information on beach conditions, and heed the advice of local beach patrol and flag warning systems.

The Orange Blossom Bakery is always worth a visit. Yes, the Apple Ugly and pastries needed to be tasted—but our favorites include the many sandwich options, on homemade bread.

As with many businesses these days we are trying to stay fully staffed and do our best to serve and please our clients.

Today is the first day we have been unable to have enough staff to get everything done in time for opening.

We will have Apple Uglies and sandwiches but will be short some items.

This is the time of year many of us like to fondly remember the "good old days," when the beaches were less crowded and the vacation homes were smaller. Here's a vintage look at the oceanfront and beach road (identified by the photographer as Nags Head but possibly depicting Kill Devil Hills), captured by Aycock Brown from an airplane in 1950.
