Cross Cultural Journeys

Cross Cultural Journeys There are many reasons to travel, possibly as numerous as there are travelers. The exotic destinations speak for themselves and they change each year.
(6)

Cross Cultural Journeys provides socially and environmentally responsible travel for individuals and organizations interested in global awareness, indigenous wisdoms and societies at the crossroads. Our journeys are journeys of the spirit as well as of geography; we are cognizant of the inner experience which is an integral element of every external exploration and adventure. We travel to see and

come to know and appreciate other cultures, other peoples, other lands, but we also go to put ourselves in new situations where our hearts and minds and spirit can blossom and flourish. Our repeat travelers, who are many, appreciate the small groups… the good-spirited, like-minded travelers… the conscientiously planned itineraries with lots of attention to detail… the opportunities to interact with local people… the terrific combination of an experienced, knowledgeable trip leader with ties to the culture along with a competent, fun-loving trip manager who pulls the group and trip together… and they appreciate the flexibility of plans that can gracefully accommodate and take advantage of the serendipitous and spontaneous chance encounters that present themselves along the way. We warmly invite you to join us and the CCJ family this year. Think of it--the adventure of your life could be just a few months away!

is one of the architectural marvels of Barcelona, Spain. Originally built between 1905 and 1908 this concert hall is stunning example of Catalan Modernism that you won’t want to miss on your next trip.

“Such an enjoyable, meaningful and memorable trip!” – Sara N.

We are so grateful to have teamed up with Momentum Music School, to coordinate this truly magical musical tour in Spain!

12 violin students, along with their families, their teacher Tracy Helming, and our very own Kat Sorensen, had the chance to visit the architecturally stunning Palau de la Musica, in Barcelona and enjoy a world class piano recital. This was just one of the many stops during their 8-day trip where the students had the opportunity to perform in several incredible venues including the historic Casa de les Punxes, designed by renowned architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. This building is a classic example of Catalan Modernism.

Our tour group also explored the mountain tops of Montserrat, the beaches of Tossa de Mar and the medieval cobblestoned paths of Girona.

DONATE TODAY TO HELP REBUILD MOROCCO AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE!

Please help Moroccan families rebuild their homes after the earthquake that struck the country on September 8. Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation is coordinating with our friends at Morocco Immersion Tours and Adventure to help with the larger task of giving all donations to families who need to rebuild. ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP!
In the little town of Atlas Ijjoukak, close to the epicenter, most villagers were left in ruins with their homes and lives shattered, and family members dead or still missing. We have received reports from the ground that there are already plenty of aid campaigns to raise funds for food, medicine and clothes.

Cross Cultural Journeys provides socially and environmentally responsible travel experiences for individuals and organizations interested in global awareness, indigenous wisdoms and societies at the crossroads.

On behalf of the Ukrainian refugees, and Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation.......

Dear CCJ traveler and friends of CCJF!

It feels like history is repeating itself.

In February of 1940, during the brutal invasion of Finland by the Soviet Union, my mother was born in the historic territory in those days known as Ingria. With roots in Finnish Karelia, the Ingrians spoke Finnish and identified as Finns, although they were citizens of the Soviet Union. During the war, they found themselves wedged between Stalin's Red Army and Hitler's N**i Germany.

The initial part of this war lasted for 105 days, and was one of the most brutal, yet least documented part of the second world war....they fled to Finland during the Continuation War, and eventually landed in Sweden in 1946. They had some, but not much help along the way. Ingria disappeared from the map and their people were dispersed around the Soviet Union. Very few were able to ever return....

This time around, through social media and global news outlets, the world is watching in real time. We have a faster, more sophisticated way of responding and ability to directly support the Ukrainian people. Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation has identified three different organizations - World Central Kitchen; UkraineNow and CORE, who all directly support refugees with food, transportation, shelter and clothing.

Our Story

Cross Cultural Journeys provides socially responsible travel for individuals and organizations interested in global awareness, indigenous wisdoms and societies at the crossroads.

CCJ Gives Back A portion of the fees we charge for every CCJ trip goes to our sister organization, Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation (a nonprofit 501c3 ) to support nonprofit charitable programs in the places we visit. CCJF has ongoing programs supporting scholarships for schools in India, an after-school environmental education program in Guatemala, rebuilding earthquake-damaged schools in Nepal, a women's tea cooperative in Ethiopia, and donating medical supplies, musical equipment, and soccer gear in Cuba. For a recent trip to Iceland, we supported a local reforestation program to offset our travelers’ carbon emissions.

CCJ Strategic Partnerships Many of our journeys are customized for a specific group or organization. All of our partner organizations are carefully selected to make sure they are aligned with CCJ and CCJF’s mission and values.

Travelers Against Plastics Cross Cultural Journeys is part of a worldwide effort to end the use of single plastics when we travel, and a proud member of Travelers Against Plastic. We encourage you to visit their resources page to inform yourself about how you can stay healthy on your journey, while also protecting our environment and not leaving behind a trail of plastic bottles.
