On December 21st at 4:00 pm, the Town of Beech Mountain will have its Christmas Parade, featuring Frosty the Snowman, Santa, and Mrs. Claus.
This annual parade showcases all the town’s fire engines, ambulances, and heavy equipment (Christmas-themed Snowplow, anyone?) and anyone can participate. It’s free to sign up, and past entries have run the gamut from a decorated passenger vehicle to a themed trailer. If you’d like to participate, please call Kate Prisco at the Buckeye Recreation Center at 828-387-3003 or email her at [email protected]. All participants need to be lined up at Fire Station # 1 at 3:30 pm.
The Beech Mountain Parkway will close at 3:55 pm between Elderberry Ridge Road and the Beech Mountain Resort. The parade will run along the Parkway beginning from the Ski Resort at 4:00 pm, and will turn left onto Elderberry Ridge Road, turning around at the Pinnacle Inn. Plenty of viewing spots can be found along the Parkway, so make sure you’re in your chosen location before the road closes.
After the parade, everyone is invited to the after-party in the Brick Oven Pizzeria’s side room (along the walkway on the right of the building, next to the mini-golf course). Tell Santa your Christmas wishes, have a cookie and a photo with Frosty and Mrs. Claus, and enjoy our community Christmas party! This event is free and runs from 5:00 pm to around 6:00 pm-ish.
Remember to dress warmly! Rain, sleet, or snow can’t stop Santa, so the parade’s on, no matter what kind of weather we have.
