Dear Guests checking in on Saturday,

We don’t know you but wanted to let you know that when you get here, there will not be a single surface that has not been lovingly scrubbed with that stuff that works better than any commercial grade solvent: Elbow Grease.

We have been Spring Cleaning for three days straight. We wished we enjoyed putting this much TLC into our home in CLT 🤣

Deciding to Airbnb our cabin was not a decision we made lightly.  We enjoyed it all to ourselves for a few years but agonized at the thought of it sitting empty when we couldn’t be here.  When you pour your heart + soul into a space you get a little emotionally attached (not to mention the physical effort... we have PTSD from excavating three layers of flooring one little shard at a time)!

So when you decide to “share” it with others, you cross your fingers and hope that they will love it and care for it as much as you do!  We have ZERO regrets and wish we had not been so selfish with it those first few years!  I have to say that after renting it for 2 years, when we get to enjoy it for our personal use now, we walk in and feel like not a a single person has been there in the time since we last visited.  It smells the same, looks the same, IS the same (well, slightly better because of all the little love notes people leave us...).

We attribute that to our amazing property manager who puts our OCD attention to detail to shame, and most importantly to our AMAZING GUESTS like this family who just left us this gushing review!

It’s impossible to pick a favorite season here. Winter gifts us 180 sweeping views from sun up until sun down, crackling fires, polar fleece and more carbs in a single day than are humanly possible to count.

What is early November in western NC like? It’s a strategic process of layering - the leaves are a little extra crunchy with frost in the morning, but then by mid-day temps can be in the mid 60’s (or today its 70!!) - perfect for hiking or biking - then slowly dipping back down after sunset, where you can sit around the fire in just a light fleece! And lots of sunscreen... always a lot of sunscreen! Our rental calendar is open and it’s not too early to plan your visit for this time next year!

Favorite spaces: our master bath is a relaxing spa-like experience that soothes + relaxes after a day of hiking + biking. I happen to know it takes almost 25 minutes for the hot water to run low. Today we attempted a 27 mile “easy” loop that I’m going to affectionately call the “Oh Hell No”. I guess the “avoid climbs” elevation filter in the app wasn’t working. Or maybe its possible I’m at the same fitness level as a burrito?
