An absolutely epic morning today at USA Triathlon Nationals! Our 15 year old daughter, Lauren, competed in the 15-19 year old age group and had an awesome race!! Stiff northeast wind made for a challenging task, but after a great swim she had a solid bike followed by a fantastic run to finish 19th nationally among 15-19 year olds, including some D1 collegiate swimmers and triathletes! What a day!! Super proud mom and dad! Special shout out to our great friends and fellow triathletes Michelle Moran and Jeff Ungvary for great races, as well!!!

Not much fishing lately but some great events happening around the area! Kaitlyn and the Rowan Profs competed in the Meters for Mike open water mile swim. The team did excellent, and Kaitlyn finished first female overall in an epic performance!!! Couldn’t be more proud of you, Kaitlyn and the rest of the team!! Way to kill it girls!!

***SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE FOR REMAINDER OF FLUKE SEASON***

With just a few weeks to go and a few windy days in front of us, this is a good time to check out our remaining fluke schedule and get on for some of the last fluke fishing of 2024! Fishing has picked up of late with nice fish in the mix! We are hoping for a strong finish to the season! Trips are $1100 for charter or $185/PP for open boat trips. Hope to have you aboard!

Less than a month of 2024 fluke season remains! Fishing has definitely picked up over the last couple weeks. There is still an off day here or there, but overall the bite has definitely improved with some nice fish in the mix!!! September is right around the corner and fishing is usually some of the best of the season. We have plenty of openings in September so please give us a call or text to reserve your open boat or private charters! Let’s finish 2024 fluke strong!

We’ve done lots of triathlons, a couple of Ironman events, half marathons, and a full marathon, but I have to say that the Tri the Wildwoods on Sunday ranks right up there with one of the most fun races we’ve ever done! Getting to share it with Tracy, Lauren, and having Kaitlyn there for support was super sick, and having so many friends from participating including our great friends and along with Courtney Hornsby made it even better! I am so proud of all of us! A special shout-out to my girls, Tracy and Lauren, for an epic race with making this dad shed a tear as she made the podium as SECOND OVERALL FEMALE!! As she passed me towards the end of the run, I can safely say I’ve never cheered so hard for someone passing me in a race, but she was setting a blistering pace that made it hard for even the best in the race to keep up with! While swimming is where her heart is set, I keep telling her that she’s a naturally gifted triathlete and is realizing tremendous potential! Of course I have to recognize my queen Tracy Crouthamel. She had an amazing race and crushed it with a 4th place overall finish! She is such an incredibly tough runner that I aspire to run as hard and with such grit that she does! Awesome job!!!! Can’t wait for the next one!!

We are in the final two months of fluke season! Fishing is still up and down, but overall it has picked up over the last two weeks! Better action and more keepers with some nice fish in the mix! Here are our available dates for the remainder of August…

Hello everyone!

It’s been quite a while since our last fishing report. We’ve been fluke fishing for the last five weeks or so. It started out fairly good with decent catches of keepers and some short action. Over the last couple of weeks, fishing has been quite tough with abnormally cold water and a tough bite. Generally, we’ve been catching a couple to a few keeper fluke per trip with some shorts mixed in. There have also been some sea bass in the mix and more ling than we usually see in July. They’re tasty and have helped in getting our folks fish to take home. If we can ever get a shift in wind direction to something other than south long enough to push warmer water in, fishing should improve! Stay tuned to updates and thanks for reading!

Hello everyone! We are fluke fishing every day the weather gives us a chance! Availability is limited through the summer, but we have a few openings next week! We have three open seats on Wednesday, July 3, and the boat available for charter on July 5! Give us a call or text to get aboard!

Been away from social media for a bit, but this weekend deserves a post! Tracy and I have been training since the beginning of the year for Ironman 70.3 Eagleman in Cambridge, MD. Race consists of 1.2 mile swim followed by a 56 mile bike and then a half marathon(13.1 miles) off the bike. This past weekend was race weekend. Joined by some great friends, we headed down on a Friday ferry and got checked in. With the bikes racked, athlete meetings attended, we had a good Italian meal before turning in early. 3am alarm, and at the race venue to set up transition. Started the morning on the walk in with Michelle and Jack Moran with Tracy falling in a hole in the dark and miraculously being uninjured albeit soaked from the waist down as the hole was full of water. First crisis averted. Get to transition, and Jack’s phone is gone. Grab Michelle’s phone and retrace steps while calling and miraculously found the phone. Crisis #2 averted. I told the group if we have 9 lives, hopefully we didn’t burn them all before 5am! 😂 Get set up in transition, and on to swim start. Got in the water in the 37-40 minute group, and was out in just over 38 minutes so right on the mark. Good swim. Long transition run from swim exit to bike transition area, but got through that and was on the bike in just over 4 minutes. Great ride through the wildlife refuge and surrounding area. Stiff headwind on the first leg, but got some nice tailwind on the backstretch and had a good bike split in just over 3 hours. Racked the bike and on the run in just over 5 minutes, and then this when things get real! Tracy is a TOUGH runner and I told her she’d excel at this distance because of that, and I was right! I got on the run and felt good through the first 7-8 miles, and that’s usually when your body starts saying “wtf are you doing to me?” This is where these races become mental and you have to ignore the pain and dig deep to get to that finish line. Got the half marathon done in 2hr 15, so not too bad. Wanted to get closer to 2hrs but with a total time of 6hr 6 minutes which was a 21 minute improvement from last year’s 70.3 I was stoked. As I predicted, Tracy had a great race, and her strong distance running ability propelled her to a sub 6 hour half Ironman on her first attempt. 5hr, 57 minutes!! Congrats! So proud of you!

All of our friends and fellow team members of the Wild Harbor Tri Club did great!! Way to go everyone! Big kudos to my friend Jack Moran from Sea Tow Cape May! First 70.3 and with lots of nerves about the cut off, pushed forward and had a great day beating the cut off by nearly 30 minutes! Mind over matter! Great weekend with you, Michelle, Don, Courtney, Donna, and the rest of the crew!!

Great fishing the last several days! Great catches of nice sea bass with some ling mixed in. Biggest sea bass award goes to Rich Lentine with a bruiser 4.72lb jumbo. Happy birthday to my oldest but always be one of my baby girls, Kaitlyn! 19 today! Time flies! She was born a little over a month after we took delivery of the Adam Bomb III. Season 2024 is officially underway! The Bomb was launched today and we are excited for a great season with lots of laughs, good times, and great fishing! We will be starting out with tog till they close. Then, we will probably do a couple tilefish trips before drum get going. As soon as sea bass open, we will be fishing for them every fishable day and drum in the afternoons/evening until fluke!

As always, a HUGE thank you to Blue Water Boats for the exceptional job they do every winter and all season getting all of our maintenance and any repairs done that we need. Rob and the crew are THE BEST in the business. Also, Yellowfin Detailing and Shrink Wrapping L.L.C is TOP SHELF for spring prep and detailing and they take a boat that was as “grungy” as they come after finishing a winter fishing season and going into storage and turn it into a show stopper. Many thanks Matt!

What an epic conclusion to the 2023/2024 swim season for the Crouthamel girls! Lauren finished up with back to back championship meets, earning the high point award for 15 and over female at Silver Champs at University of Delaware while swimming multiple lifetime best times. She then swam several events at Senior Champs in Carlisle, PA this past weekend as a 15 year old which is a fantastic accomplishment. She swam lifetime best times in 2/3 events there and right on best time in the 50 free. What a finish and great job to an awesome swimmer and person! We also got news today that Kaitlyn was named Rookie of the Year in the New Jersey Athletic Conference! Super proud!

Now, if we could get the weather to chill out so we can start togging, that would be great!
