Beginning January 7, 2025, Southwest Airlines will be adding non stop service from Columbus, Ohio to Miami. Another great win for the Columbus Airport Authority.

Ritz Carlton will take over management of the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu. Great news for Bonvoy Members but we hope the hotel maintains the surfer vibe that it has been known for over the years. North Shore of Oahu is all about the surfer vibe!

Great to see in Kauai an old hotel making a comeback! The Coco Palms Hotel on the east side of the island was wiped out by Hurricane Iniki in 1992. The damage was so severe, they just decided to shut the hotel down rather than try and refurbish it. The hotel will now reopen in 2026 as a new hotel under the Kimpton Hotel Brand. Ike always had high regard for the Coco Palms and talked highly about the property. Great to see it make a comeback. Better late than never. Photo Credit: Travel Weekly.

Customer in Iceland was kind enough to share this beautiful picture of Gullfoss Waterfall. Gull in Icelandic means Gold in English. Foss in Icelandic is Falls in English. “The Golden Falls.” If you look closely, there is a hint of a rainbow there.

After 40 years, the Mirage Hotel is at the end of her run. Soon to be replaced by a Hard Rock Hotel. Lot’s of fond memories of this hotel. What I will miss most is the Beatles “Love” Show which is still one of the best shows on the strip to this day. Mirage you will be missed! Not too late to catch one last hurrah!!

Funny thing I noticed about elephants is they never take a bad step. Even the adolescents and the babies can negotiate a hillside with relative ease. As big as they are, they are graceful, athletic and can move when they need to. They are truly special. It was a treat to see them in the wild and you can too! Beautiful view of Cape Town looking up the coast from Table Mountain. Without a doubt, the most visited attraction in Cape Town along with the waterfront. It is quite windy and cooler at the top so best to dress in layers.

In case you missed it, PBS will be airing “Queen of the Tetons” May 8, 2024 at 8:00PM. We at Reynolds Travel encourage you to watch it. She is a special bear!! People come from all over the world just to get a glimpse of her. She has been a great ambassador for the Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. There will never be another bear like her! The Cliffs of Moher is one of the top attractions in Ireland. Did you know you can see it from the water level too? Doolin’s Ferry has cruise up and down the Cliffs to give you a water level view. Best of both worlds. Spend a couple nights in Ennis and take it all in along with possibly the Aran Islands too. #

Do you know what mountain this is and where it is located? This is Mount Kirkjufell located on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula north of Reykjavik in Iceland. Without a doubt the most photographed mountain in Iceland. Most tour companies pass up the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. That is a real headscratcher. Not us! The Hawaii State Senate is set to vote on whether or not to enact a “Green Tax” of $50.00 per person for visitors to the islands. The funds collected will go to protecting the beaches, green space and wildlife. If the bill is enacted, the “Green Tax” will go in effect in July 2025. A Reynolds Travel customer was kind enough to send us pictures of a Hawaiian Monk Seal sunning themselves on Poipu Beach on Kauai. Poipu Beach is known for seal sightings especially in the winter months. It is not too far from their feeding grounds and the south facing shores have less wave action in the winter months. You do not want to approach the seals. They are a protected species and they can be a little inhospitable.

Reynolds Travel has some clients in Hawaii and we’re king enough to share some photos of their great 48 hours in Maui going up to the top of Haleakala(House of the Gods) to see the sunrise and a whale watching tour with Pacific Whale Foundation. Always special when you get an opportunity to see a whale pod!! What is even better is a good majority of the funds collected by the Pacific Whale foundation goes to research and protection of these majestic species.

Great weekend in NYC!! With the exception of some clouds on game day, couldn’t ask for better weather. Having dinner in Little Italy is a great way to end the trip. Best thing about going 9-0? Chance to go 10-0!

Had a great day touring Lower Manhattan!! Postcard weather in New York! Looking forward to going out to Piscataway tomorrow for the Rutgers vs Ohio State game. Maybe the last time for a while.
