🌺 It’s flamboyant season here on St. John! 🌺 The flamboyant tree, known for its fiery red/orange flamboyant display, blooms in early summer. Our property is nestled amongst these trees and when they bloom it makes our views a bit more gorgeous {is that possible?! 🙃}. Here’s a shot from our veranda.

Tropical Storm Phillipe has arrived and expected to bring 8+ inches of rain to the island. 💦 This is like liquid gold as the rain fills our cisterns which provides water to our condo! A perfect day to curl up on the veranda with a good book as we listen to the rain.

Another new island addition! Mid Way Cafe & Grill located at Mid Way Plaza on Centerline opened this week. According to a menu recently posted they will be serving up ribs, chicken, lobster, fish and steak among other comfort food items like Mac & cheese and pasta + potato salad. Can’t wait to check them out!

Did you know that 2/3 of St. John is a National Park? The park sprawls across most of St. John, protecting unspoiled beaches edged by coral reefs, sea turtle breeding grounds, and hiking trails that meander through tropical forests. The park also preserves plantation sites and the ancient petroglyphs of the Indigenous Taino so guests can learn about the island's history of colonialism and enslavement. We 🫶🏼

@mongoosejunction 🫶🏼 Mongoose Junction is the place on St. John for delicious food, great cocktails, craft beer, hook bracelets and jewelry, local artwork, beach essentials, clothing, excursion planning, and fabulous gifts. Hang a left coming out of the ferry, follow the road right and then left keeping the water on your left! Five minutes later you will spot this gorgeous outdoor shopping center on the right before you head out of town and into our beautiful National Park.

We finally made it over to Coral Bay to check out @sharkys_usvi {they recently took over the spot where @saltymongoosevi was in the Isola Shoppes complex} and can confirm, it’s worth the trip! They offered lots of fresh menu options- mussels, lamb gyros, and poke bowls to name a few plus some great cocktails - pictured here is an Aperol Spritz 🙃 Sharky’s is open from noon to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

St. John has another beach for you to discover! Caneel Bay is now accessible via land for the first time post-Irma/Maria. And of course, I have to mention — there is plenty of parking (3 lots!). I had a chance to visit the other day and can confirm it is pure perfection. It was so interesting to see the remains of the old resort and sugar plantation. Will you be adding this beach to your agenda for your next trip?

For me, it was almost like winter didn't count. Summer was what mattered. My whole life was measured in summers. Like I don't really begin living until June, until I'm at that beach, in THAT house 🫶🏼
