Pygmy seahorse on a type of coral called a Gorgonian sea fan, about 40 ft (12 m) deep in Lembeh, Indonesia. 📸: Alex Mustard Underwater Photography There are 5 known species of pygmy sea horses that grow to an average size of 0.55 to 1.06 inches (1.4 to 2.7 cm).
