Coming home last night I could see the smoke rising above the mountains. Fortunately, couldn't smell it. Culpeper Treetop guests: keep an eye on this if you are planning a hike. Yesterday, Old Rag trails were still open but have been experiencing some bad visibility on occasion. But there's a jillion places to hike around here that are perfectly safe!

Mt Run Lake Beavers' Local 22701: Walking Sticks, Walking staffs, S'mores Stix

75% of the sale price donated to the Mt. Run Initiative of the Friends of the Rappahannock River Watershed.
The Story--The wildlife in Mt Run Lake has offered us many simple surprises over the years. This year, the lake's beavers have been especially active. And hungry. Beavers are herbivores whose diet relies on tree bark. All the leftover bare branches and sticks on our property are their version of "pizza bones."
In the spirit of neighborly collaboration, I've re-purposed their efforts into walking sticks, walking staffs (those over 6ft), and turning the little branches into "S'mors Stix". We hope you find them both useful and pleasing to the eye--from the shape, color and other unique features like teeth marks. Each one, unique and quite beautiful in their own way.
