Friday 4 pm and still no electricity since before I woke up Tuesday morning. Four full days without power.

The recording Tuesday was 1500 homes without power. Wednesday through this morning 240 with no change. Just now I’m one of only 37 with no power.

Maybe later today, I can only hope. I have to take a 30 minute drive morning, noon, and night just to keep my phone charged. I am m not a happy camper.

UPDATE: 6 pm Friday and power on after 4 days. I have a lot of catching up to do…..once the house cools down to below 80. Email, laundry, cleaning, and restock refrigerator, and 4 days of computer work!!

Dateline March 31, 2017

In checking my calendar, it was six years ago yesterday that I closed my physical storefront for Ahoy Cruises. The landlord raised my rent by more than double and I didn't want to pay. It was a blessing in disguise as I now work from home with no rent to pay. No one hour commute each way. No crazies walking in the door talking to my plants. And the view is of the horses across the street, not parked cars and traffic.

And it's quiet. Today I have the windows open, a nice breeze, and the only noise is a pair of snoring, sleepy cats.

My first store on Main St in Downtown Dallas, my second store on Hillcrest, and now my home office.

All Aboard!

London bound on Eurostar. 8:30 am departure, arriving before 11:30. Next stop is a vintage store then a nap. I visit the hotel tomorrow. The owner of the motor coach company that takes us to QM2 will be there as well. The bell captain will also be there to discuss the luggage logistics. This group will probably have 200+ bags!!

I’ll post a lot more Monday after I get home

Ahoy All,
I have received quite a few requests for the next Ahoy Vintage Voyage. However, having just completed four crossings between April 2022 and July 2023, the general consensus is to wait until 2025. Departure will sometime between April and September 2025. Cunard s booking through April 2025 (end of the World Cruise) and will release dates and pricing for the balance of 2025 through 2026 starting in a few weeks. We'll need to get your cabins reserved as soon as they become available. That being said, I do have something in the works.

The Plan:
What I plan to do is coordinate an Art Deco Theme Vintage Crossing with Paris, rather than London. The Art Deco Society of Paris has already offered to arrange the same tours as used by the Art Deco World Congress for our pre-crossing stay. I have several friends in Paris that have recommended hotels that are both Art Deco and centrally located.
I will visit Paris in June 2024 to personally put eyes on the hotel options and meet with the tour guides and such. This will be about a year in advance.
When:
Cunard does not have the QM2 schedule past the end of the World Cruise in April 2025. So I have no date yet. I spoke to the President of the Paris Art Deco Society about the the Art Deco World Congress to be held in Paris in 2025……and he does not have a date yet. The QM2 usually has at least one crossing that embarks in Paris/le Havre (7 nights crossing).
The crossing will be sometime between late April and late September.
Sometimes QM2 does embark at Southampton to le Havre then to NYC (8 nights overall) as well. I should have the date and pricing before the end of September 2023 or so.

Pricing:
I’m estimating the pricing to be similar to the last 4 crossing with a bit more for 2 years inflation to 2025. But no dramatic price jump, just a price nudge. As always, I’ll keep it as low as I can.
The Deposit:
I have sailed 400+ passengers on these past voyages. Thank you all. I also get many inquiries that show interest that end up not going. For this next trip, I will need a more accurate head count of those that really want to go.
If you are interested, I’m asking for a token $15 per person token deposit to confirm your place. It is fully refundable in case you can’t make the trip OR will be applied to your booking when you make your final payment. Again, this is to help me to accurately gauge the true interest level.
I let all the past passengers know first before I going public on the Vintage Cruise Lounge. And those with the $15 deposit will get first dibs on the 110 spots available. That’s the average size of the past groups, but I feel this one from Paris will have a great deal more interest.

***Paypal and Zelle aren’t always obvious who sent the money. Just add "I'm sending me $15 by mail, Paypal, to your email request etc. so I'll know to look for it.
Those with the $15 deposit move to the head of the line and get the first availability. I will note the replies in the order they are received.
The deposit is 100% refundable if you choose not to go OR will be applied to your booking at final payment

Interesting Fact: I spoke to Belmond (Orient Express) and a breakfast transfer from Paris to the ship is $2500 per person. The Sleeper train overnight would start at $4500 pp. Its 3 hours by train. I did not add an extra 0 to the price, you read that correctly.
