Fished with 3 time repeat customer and friend John Gross today for a guide trip. Me and John have had some rough outings prior to today but we busted through the wall and had a really good trip. We caught fish on top water lures well into the morning, even past 8:30-9 o’clock this morning as well as on Coastal Brew Baits 5” Darts. We also put some Fairhope Rattle popping corks to work! Me and John finished with 5+ species including speckled trout, bluefish, ladyfish, puppy drum and rat reds. Blessed to spend a fun day with a friend and catching some fish, glad we got it done 💪 next time we go we chasing them Floundas, see you in October John!

Epic morning with Mr. Fred from Indiana. Bennett Kercher tagged along as a celebrity guest/deckhand and caught on some fish with us. This morning we put together another mess of blue crabs, caught and released plenty of speckled trout, tagged and released a few flounder, snagged some stud whitings and added several bluefish to the box for fish tacos. We had a great time swapping stories, getting to know each other and catching some fish. We caught our fish on live shrimp and Fairhope Rattle popping corks, topwaters and grubs! Mobile, AL in the house! Today I was blessed to take this group of 6 out for some fishing on their local beaches here on the island. This crew was not only local but also close to home in the sense that one of the group, (Lex), has been in my life for quite some time - dating one of my best friends of all time that’s been my dawg since high school. We started our day off with Speckled Trout, Bluefish, Ladyfish and micro sized Jack Crevalle. Mid trip we made the swap to Flounder and the bite was just really slow; with my deckhand, or landhand, whatever you wanna call him but one hard working dude! Mr. Riley, landing one legal fish and myself landing one short. We decided the flounder weren’t cooperating so we made a spot change, got out the scoop net and got to work on some Blue Crabs. Nate and his whole crew got to harvest a couple quality speckled trout, several bluefish, a flounder and over two dozen blue crabs for a solid meal tonight out of their local waters! These three Central Michigan boys crushed it yesterday. Jonathan and his family made the loooooong drive from our northern border for a stay on Dauphin Island. He brought his oldest boys, Jeremiah and Colin, on a fishing trip saying they do plenty of fishing back home but this would be their first saltwater fishing experience. These guys crushed it the other day on Speckled Trout, Ladyfish and Blue Crabs while on our surf fishing charter, Colin caught a 23” trout to be the biggest of the day and we put over 2 dozen blue crabs in a bucket for them to have a boil. We caught our fish on top water lures, twitch baits, live shrimp under Fairhope Rattle popping corks and tight lining live croakers. After the trout bite was over we did a little Whiting/Pompano fishing and managed this one little baby Pompano swimming through but that was it. Blue crabs, speckled trout, redfish, whiting and hot ladyfish action this morning. Mrs. Kara booked a trip for a her boy Luke and his friend Matt and these fifteen year old boys had a blast. Water level wasn’t in our favor today but we had a nice falling tide til mid morning that kept some fish willing to chew. We worked live shrimp and finger mullet under Fairhope Rattle popping corks and Yano Serra’s live shrimp along different soft structures on the beach front. These fellas put six blue crabs, a couple slot redfish, two whiting and a puppy drum in the box to take home to their family for dinner. Father/Son duo from Texas out here having fun this morning catching some fish. Robert and Phillip were looking for something fun to do together so Mom booked a trip during their stay on Dauphin Island. We got started at first light catching whiting, ladyfish, small speckled trout, catfish, pinfish and XL sized croakers. After not being able to dial in any speckled trout or redfish in our first location we made a swap and went to cast net some finger mullet and moved on to the next area where we caught two flounder that measured 13” that we tagged, tons of mangrove snapper with three at 12-13” for the box. These guys got to spend some quality time together going fishing, tag some fish, mark some new species off the list and took home some whiting and mangrove snapper to make some fresh ceviche. I had a good time guiding this crew and look forward to their next trip on the island! This trip wouldn’t have had nearly as many catches without having my Fishbites, Frisky Fins and Surf Hippie Phishing gear around for the trip.

Family fun and making memories! Took out this group of 5 from Missouri this morning and had a ball catching all sorts of fish. They caught 12 different species from speckled trout and redfish, to sharpnose and blacktip sharks, to croakers and pinfish, everything across the board was cruising the beach front looking for a meal. Noah said he and his family will be back and I look forward to taking them again for sure. As a guide there’s nothing like catching a bunch of fish, letting majority of them go for the next trip, and putting a few in the box for clients to have a satisfying meal. Love it.

Jack contacted me about a week ago to plan up a surf fishing trip. He said he wasn’t too concerned with tougher conditions and the tougher bite we’d experienced on my trip yesterday, he just wanted to learn all about reading the beach, bait selection and the game plan of targeting speckled trout, redfish and flounder from the beach. We got out on the beach around 5:20 this morning and got off to a slow start working topwaters, Island Bait and Tackle live shrimp under Fairhope Rattle popping corks and tight lining live croakers. At around 6:30 the bite kicked on for a little over an hour and we were able to put together several speckled trout and redfish on live shrimp and my help, Mr. Riley added a flounder to the mix. By 9:30 it was clear that the beach bite was dying/dead down so we packed it in and made a move. Over the next couple hours we bounced grubs for flounder and it was a grind but I was able to catch and release this 21” flat girl on Eye Strike Fishing jigheads, Pro-Cure Bait Scents Mullet scent and Z-Man Fishing Products lures. All in all we had a great trip and Mr. Jack had a blast putting some fish together learning the front beach, he’s welcome with me any time! Had a great time guiding the Hartman’s the last two days. I’ve been fishing with these guys for a couple years now and always enjoy seeing them when they come down to the island. This weeks weather has been spotty so their offshore trips didn’t pan out and they were looking for some fishing to get into despite poor conditions. Sunday we went flounder fishing and did a poor job of taking photos only getting two good pictures but we had an epic morning catching a mess of flounder and one bonus speckled trout, we released lots of fish and put just enough in the box for dinner for these guys and their family. Monday was meant to be for Speckled Trout but the swell and wind conditions had us pinned down, limiting our area. We discussed going home knowing the fishing was going to be tough but these guys just wanted to be out fishing no matter what. We roughed it out and had a tough of fishing day for Day 2 but a great time hanging out, talking crap and catching just a couple d***s to get through the day. Last Friday I had a really tough afternoon trip with this family from Louisiana. We decided to call it early Friday and restart, refresh and come with a new effort this Monday morning. Justin and Jase rode over on the ferry so we had a late start to our morning, despite that later start we still got it done in a big way. Me and these two guys had a blast on our redemption trip and made memories for young Jase, he caught his first Redfish and first Flounder ever! After a lot of effort in the heat and a long walk, our four hour trip was complete with some really nice fish (11 Flounder and 4 Redfish). We only kept what was needed, releasing the rest to fight another day just the way I like it! Fun morning with this Indiana family. Got out with this group of four this morning to catch on some fish. The day felt like a grind but when it was all said in done we had a few nice fish in the box and had a great time doing it. We started the day with two undersized Speckled Trout and one nice Spanish Mackerel, continued the morning with three undersized Flounder and so decided to make a move. Tried one more Flounder spot to no avail and then headed to the front beach. After about an hour on the beach we’d released several Pinfish, caught one Whiting and two really nice slot Redfish to seal the deal. Finished up my guide trips for the week with this special Mother/Son duo. Ms. Jenna booked a trip for her and her boy Harrison to get out and do some fishing together. Mr. Harrison is ate up with fishing and hunting and his mama does everything she can to fuel those passions snd spur him on to the outdoors. We caught up some Speckled Trout first thing in the morning and put a one man limit in the box for them to take home. After that we tried to w**d through the Pinfish to catch some Whiting but it seems like those pesky suckers are out in numbers as we were only able to add one Whiting to add to the harvest. After that we attempted to get some Flounder but only ended up with one 12”er. All in all we had a great day fishing and Harrison said he had a good time so that’s all that matters to me! Catching on them again! Took this Texas crew for a day of fishing on the Alabama beach. We caught several Speckled Trout, boxed a few and released several shorts as well as one real nice over slot fish that we tagged for the CCA Alabama tagging program. Plenty of Bluefish and Ladyfish bycatch with Whiting and Pinfish mixed in, a few Blues and a Whiting made it into the box as well. We had a great morning putting top water lures and Island Bait and Tackle Live Shrimp to work this morning. Missed posting these pics last week from my trip with the Jones family. Mr. Ben contacted me about a trip where he could get on some fish and satisfy the ladies in the family too. We got his wife and girls up early and out on the beach at 5 in the morning and got on a really nice mixed bag of fish. We caught Speckled Trout, Flounder, Whiting, and puppy sized Black drum for harvest and did some catch and release on some smaller sharks. Ben and his girls had a blast and told me they’ll be back for some more fishing next time. Looking forward to it & in the meantime be safe out there in uniform serving our country, thanks Ben!

Had a blast this morning running a guide trip for THE FEVER. Drew Giles contacted me and said The Fever wanted to sponsor a trip for The Stevenson’s, an older couple looking to put their younger son on some fish. The Speckled Trout weren’t doing what we wanted them to so we swapped target species and put a nice fish fry together with 10 Whiting and a couple puppy sized Black Drum to top it off. Enzo had a fun time catching on some fish and was all smiles when our trip was over - that’s what it’s all about! Shoutout to the guys over at The Fever for going the extra mile and blessing this family with a fun time. Drew said it was on his heart to do it so he saw it through and made it happen, super cool for he and The Fever to do that and take the time to bless somebody else with some new memories.

Took this fun group out this morning and it turns out I had a Game Warden hiding in the group! 👀 The Young’s, Brittany’s dad (Pop) and brother in law came down from North Alabama for a family beach vacation. We got to chatting about fish one afternoon at Pirates Bar & Grill and before I knew it they were booking a trip. Everybody got tight on fish today and we easily caught around 25 fish this morning including the biggest Whiting I’ve ever seen in person measuring just under 18”. The fish are biting! Round 1 of the day was a major success. This morning I took Mr. Perry, a newly relocated Dauphin Island resident from Mississippi, and his buddies Tracy and Ronny to show them some tips and tricks to catching some fish in our area. We kept what we needed and let the rest go but finished the morning with 25 trout and 10 flounder. This afternoon Round 2 was the polar opposite, I had a really good time fishing with Mr. David from GA but the fish just didn’t want to cooperate, 2 flounder, 2 pinfish and 1 ladyfish. Despite going fishing and not “catching” David had a great time and was able to bring home a small meal with the flounder we caught.
