In 1964, the City of invited the Town Council of Stirling, Scotland to enter into a relationship in order to share in an exchange of ideas, cultural achievements, correspondence, club affiliations, and visitors, creating goodwill between the two communities.

The City of Dunedin is proud of this longstanding relationship, and in addition to the on-going visiting delegations between the two governments, we are currently working to establish the following exchanges:

Trade exchange between the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce and Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce.

An art exchange between the Dunedin Fine Art Center and The Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum.

Virtual student exchange between Dunedin and Stirling middle and high schools.

50 years ago on the Dunedin Causeway! Beautiful then, and beautiful now! Come visit and see for yourself!

Dunedin Causeway - 1970s -

50 Years ago, in 1970, the causeway had been completed, an additional 19 million cubic yards of fill would have transformed Honeymoon Island into a city of 40,000 people had the development plans continued. However, a local advocacy group blocked any further development of Honeymoon Island, and the project was haulted.

In that same year Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring" permeated our psyche. The EPA was also created in 1970, thus addressing some major ecological concerns such as the use of DDT and the burning of the Cuyahoga River the year before.

Home Plate is our favorite breakfast spot in Dunedin! It’s right off the trail, directly across the street the from the stadium, and only a couple minute walk from Turtle Cove! If you drove there it would take about 5 seconds from door to door! The food is amazing, and the BACON!!! OMG! The BACON! You won’t find any better! Ok, we are getting hungry just thinking about it! Be sure to stop in and see why it’s the locals favorite! 🍳🥓🥞☕️
