So,fellow FUBAR Travelers, I have been blessed to be able to get out of the cubical and attend the Amazing "SongKran Festival" In Pattaya Beach, Thailand. In April we gather from around the world bringing our sorrow, our pain, our negativity and poverty. During the "SongKran Festival", the Thai participants mix up a type of special clay which represents ills of your life, and of the world.They take this special clay and rub in on your face and arms what have you.Now to the layperson this seems strange, as a person you don't know rubs a strange mystery concoction on you, but not too worry adventure traveler.
Now the fun begins, as the entire city erupts into a wonderfully happy combat zone. The 50 gal barrels of Water and Block Ice are strategically placed like ammo depot's on the sidewalks.
As everyone from children and even elderly participate in the Worlds Largest Water Fight!
The purpose hidden with-in is to wash each others special dirt away washing away with it the associated negativity and ills of the world collected since the previous year.There are Parades of Buddhist Monks that bless the people and the event is sanctioned by the Royal Thai Family, and even the police fire military all participate.Yes you can shoot a Cop in the face with a water gun at this time (just don't be a douche about it) for your own safety.
There will plenty of frivolity as the streets are blocked off and the city comes alive all day and night to host -FREE concerts, spicy food festivals, and of course plenty of local Chang and Tiger Beers for everyone.So grab your "Super Soak-er" squirt guns and join in the fun and wash away your blues.
