A far side halo CME was observed in NASA/SOHO coronagraph imagery early on 20 May. The CME was determined to be from the opposite side of the Sun and not Earth-directed. Old Region 3664 is back there now and is a likely source. Will it return? Visit https://www.swpc.noaa.gov

The sun has been so active this last week. The sunspots that produced multiple x-class flares that caused the aurora to be seen throughout most of the world have now rotated to the back side of the sun. Aurora enthusiasts are awaiting those sunspots to re-emerge from the other side in two more weeks. Praying their intensity continues and we get another great aurora showing in the lower 48.
