When the conference is in the Crescent City: Jackson Square at the golden hour, beignets and coffee for dinner, beads, and ballrooms. Unfortunately, we didn't have a ship in port... they're all in the midst of taking our guests on fabulous adventures on the Mississippi, Tennessee, Cumberland, and Ohio rivers!

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of escorting a small group of travel advisors on our Historic Mississippi itinerary, aboard the beautiful American Melody. After a night at the Intercontinental, we sailed six nights on the Lower Mississippi, roundtrip New Orleans, enjoying not only a culinary- and wine-themed trip (complete with an accomplished sommelier!), but many new and engaging excursions in each port along the way. From learning to make delicious jambalaya in a Cajun village to a ranch adventure featuring axe throwing and mud-splashing ATV rides to the elegance and ghost encounters of The Myrtles, much fun was had, history was learned, and many pictures were taken. There's nothing like experiencing it yourself to make you a believer... come aboard and find out!

What's more, I'm on a personal countdown to next Thursday, when I arrive in New Orleans to enjoy a pre-night in the Big Easy, then a fabulous, six-night sailing, round trip NOLA. *ALERT* A quick reassurance to anyone in the greater Sacramento area who may have been listening to the Travel Guys radio show on KFBK: though the host referenced "the nation's largest river cruise line", which is American Cruise Lines, he was in fact, talking about AQ Voyages (formerly known as American Queen Steamboat Company) NOT American Cruise Lines. Unfortunately, AQV is canceling cruises and experiencing operational difficulties, including the travel trade largely having put the product on a "stop sell" status. American Cruise Lines is stable, financially sound, and growing our offerings, not canceling them. Rest assured that travel with us remains the excellent experience we are proud to provide, and with 19 ships in the water, more being built, and 50+ itineraries across the US, we would love to welcome you aboard!
