African Lion Conservation and Ewaso Lions in Samburu.
"It’s incredible how few people know that Africa’s lions are disappearing. We hear a lot about the threats facing elephants and rhinos, but lions are quietly slipping away. Lions have declined by 90% in just the last 75 years."

Choosing Between Eastern & Southern Africa Safaris?
Safari veterans broadly divide Africa into two regions, eastern and southern. Because of the continent’s enormous size, if you can narrow down your interests, focusing on one region or another makes sense during a two-week stay. As you consider the distinctive qualities of each region, it is important to note that these are generalizations only, and exceptions abound. While Southern Africa generally features smaller camps on private reserves, for example, there are excellent small camps in private concessions in Eastern Africa, too, and both regions offer opportunities to see Africa’s Big Five, indulge in some beach time, or engage with a local community.

đź“· Penguins in the Cape:
"Everyone tells you that gorilla encounters are very special, and they are. First of all, you know that the only place you can see world’s remaining mountain gorillas is in the wild, and only in a few remote places, so there’s that. But there is such a strong connection to these animals – just looking at their hands and the way they use them. Then you see them interact: the head honcho silverback dropped to his knees, rear in the air, to play with the babies, just like a doting grandfather. You see moms feeding babies, and you see younger males quarrel only to be put back in line by the silverback when things get out of control. I felt very calm in their presence, in spite of their enormous size."

Conservation Safaris: Black Rhinos of Namibia's Damaraland
"Damaraland is one of those alien landscapes where humans living in a positively pre-industrial state, scratch out livings where life permits. It looks like the place exploded at some time in the geological past, and that is not entirely wrong. The entire surface is the result of successive volcanic episodes in the building up and breaking down of the Earth’s crust."

Zambia's South Luangwa river and surrounding woodlands are one of the best birding localities in Africa, with great avian spectacles especially when the river dries to shallow pools in winter and birds in great profusion congregate in frenetic clusters to feed on the trapped fish: yellow-bill and saddle-bill storks, marabous, herons, egrets, pelicans, kingfishers and one of the local “lifers”, Pel’s fishing owls.

Why utilize custom safari specialists like Bushtracks Expeditions; the kind of people you’d go to if you wanted to retrofit your father’s old Harley? Just as you’d like the mechanic to know his valve stems from his rocker arms, you’d want your safari agent to know her monkeys from her apes, cheetahs from leopards, and the cultural differences between the Maasai and the Samburu. First prize would be to find people who had grown up in, or at least regularly visited, the African bush.
Enter Bushtracks.
Book your stay with Chem Chem Lodge in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania and discover the wilderness through the eyes of those who have lived it and breathed it for centuries: the Maasai. Critical to protecting Africa’s wildlife are the local people that share the land, often alongside one another. If people and wildlife learn to live together—inside and outside of protected areas—the future for all will thrive.

"Dung beetles are highly utilitarian and wonderful recyclers, and some species navigate by the polarization patterns in moonlight. Since I was a kid growing up in Zimbabwe, my 3 brothers and I were fascinated by these beetles which we encountered on every safari my Dad took us on. We marveled at how they pushed their dung balls backwards with their long hind legs, and still managed to keep a straight line. As boys do, we had to test them by putting sticks or rocks in their way, and then watch them navigate around the obstacle and carry on in that same straight line." - David Tett, Bushtracks Expeditions #bushtracks #travel2022 #luxurylifestyle #luxuryliving #luxuryhotel #victoriafalls #zimbabwe #instatravel #wanderlust #travel #africa #jetsetting #jetlife #southafrica #wildlifephotography #wildlife #uganda #safari #botswana #luxurytravel #privatejet #egypt #luxuryworldtraveler

Bushtracks traveler, Dawna Komorosky, just returned from Kenya and shared these inspiring photos with us. "It truly was a trip of a lifetime and I have so many great pictures to remind me of this special trip! (Mt.) Kilimanjaro came out briefly at Tortilis Camp, and there were large herds of elephants and zebra in the flats and swamp. At Loisaba Tented Camp I went on a walking safari and met the anti-poaching team, and on the last day we saw some cheetahs. The Star Beds at Loisaba were amazing."
