Weather Event - NC DOT Closes US-64.

Chief Holland has informed the Highlands Chamber of Commerce that US-64 (Highlands Road), near Gold Mine Road is closed in both directions due to a wash out. The road will be closed from Gold Mine Road to Buck Creek Road through the Highlands Gorge. The timeframe on the NC DOT website says this will be until Thursday, January 11 at 1:12 p.m. Please check their website https://drivenc.gov/ for updates.

Detour: Motorists may use Buck Creek as a local detour to get around the closure.
