The rooms-to-space ratio represents the amount of meeting space an event uses for every guest room occupied by attendees.

For meeting planners, the rooms-to-space ratio is by far the most important metric a meeting hotel uses to determine a group's worth. In order to get the best possible deal from a hotel, your meeting space should stay within the hotel’s room-to-space ratio. When hotels decline a group, it’s not personal – it’s likely a space issue. So what can you do?

Simple tip #1: Know your own meeting’s space-to-rooms ratio.

Group To Go, Inc. just worked with a group that was planning an "incentive travel" cruise on a Ritz-Carlton Yacht. With itineraries as quaint as New England and as exotic as the Mediterranean, there is a wide variety of ports to choose from.

The private amenities offered INSIDE each cabin allows for individuals and groups to cruise and never come in contact with people (if that is the goal). All yachts have a formal dining room to socialize, but they also offer full-service in-cabin dining and activities. When your room is as spacious as what is pictured here - you never need to leave your cabin.

After booking a meeting or event at any U.S. property, planners can gain access to third-party providers with COVID-19 tests and health screening options within the Wellness section of the EventReady Playbook and includes:



· Handheld temperature check devices

· Personal health screening checklists

· COVID-19 self-testing options

· COVID-19 same-day, onsite testing



The COVID-19 testing and health screening options will be available in the latest evolution of EventReady with CleanStay, Hilton’s global cleanliness, and client service program specific to meetings and events. WORK FROM YOUR HOME, AN OFFICE OR EVEN A PRIVATE ISLAND!

Did you know most travel professionals work from the location of their choice? Prefer to WFH, build out an office or travel to the paradise of your dreams and work from the beach? Over the past 22 years, I’ve seen firsthand how much the travel industry has changed.. One of the best parts of being a group travel planner in today's marketplace is that it’s widely acceptable to tailor your agency’s “office” environment to your personal preference. Since travel pros are on the road often, you (and your team) must be 100 percent portable so you can work remotely while you travel. As travel planners we're often on the go, conducting hotel site visits and meeting with our clients. While we love the series of adventures, we always need to ensure we can work well from the road so our business remains operational without missing a beat.

Intrigued by a career in travel? Here’s tip #2

CHOOSE A NICHE...

Did you know there are different types of travel agents? Many agencies opt to hone in on a particular niche since an agency need not sell to the entire world to be successful. A targeted approach focused on a niche or two still yields tremendous results. For instance, I have a colleague who only sells Cheerleading conventions. She is an expert in the specifications needed to operate these conventions and sells herself as such. Group To Go’s expertise falls within a few niche areas, namely sports and entertainment as well as special meetings and conventions to name just a few.

When trying to determine a niche, start by choosing something you’re passionate about. You may think booking African safaris might be very lucrative however if it’s not something that interests you and you lack the basic knowledge of African safaris you’ll be doing your clients a disservice to focus here.

So really dive deep and think about your interest and passions which will lead you to your niche. Is it sports conventions, corporate meetings, incentive fun in the sun vacations or college tours? Whatever speaks to your soul, start there.
