Lahaina is enduring heartbreak. Numerous lives, homes and cherished businesses have been tragically impacted.

Lahaina has also suffered damage to one of its most beloved symbols in the scorched and blackened banyan tree—whose survival remains uncertain.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this challenging time, hoping for the safety and resilience of our island family. Seeing aerial images of before and after only reinforces the depth of our collective loss.

To our valued customers, partners, and friends:

First, I wanted to send a quick note that VIP Trans remains OPEN to provide all our customers an essential service during a challenging time.

As we all work to navigate the coronavirus outbreak, the safety and health of our team and customers is the main thing on our mind. To that end, we have implemented a “no-contact” transportation service at VIP Trans so we can maximize the social distance between our Drivers and our riders.

Effective immediately, we are working to ensure “no-contact” pickup and dropoff in the following ways:

“No-contact” in-person pick ups - We strongly encourage our customers to follow CDC guidance during “no-contact” pick up and drop off, but if you need to interact in-person with your Driver, please be aware that we are instructing our Drivers to maximize space between themselves and customers to avoid any contact. Your Driver will now place or hang your bags with gloves and maintain distance while you pick up your items. If your Driver is picking up items, we ask that you do the same for them. We recognize this will lead to some unusual interactions, but these are unusual times and this is an important change we can make to help ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Six Feet Distancing - The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person. Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. All passengers will be required to space out as much as possible during rides.

Reducing Routes - Given the unprecedented circumstances and the severity of the outlook, the transportation company will reduce its schedule to prioritize core routes, based on customer demand. VIP Trans will be parking approximately 75 percent of its fleet.

Safety First - Ensure that vehicles are cleaned and that all people have access to safe, healthy, convenient, and affordable transportation
