FRIENDLY REMINDER:
The monthly statewide siren and Emergency Alert System test will be TODAY, August 1st, at 11:45 am.

As a reminder, the sirens are for all hazards, including hurricanes and tsunami warnings. When the sirens go off, it means you should tune into local broadcast stations—TV or radio, for more information. If there’s no crawler on the TV screen or no break into radio programing, that’s an indication that it may be a siren malfunction. We’ve taken additional measures to minimize the likelihood of malfunctions on the base, but every once in a while, a siren malfunction will occur.

The standard operating procedure is for the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) to provide updates on social media whenever a malfunction happens and we will share the HI-EMA post on our social media.

Visit https://dod.hawaii.gov/hiema/get-ready/ to sign up for Hawaii Emergency Management (HIEMA) alerts. Mahalo

SECNAV GUIDANCE ON POLITICAL ACTIVITIES OF DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY PERSONNEL

The Department of the Navy (DON) celebrates democracy and is committed to continuing to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, as our Sailors, Marines, and civilian personnel have done for nearly 250 years. Now that the 2024 election season is upon us, it is more important than ever for us to remember that the DON is an apolitical body and our members cannot participate in activities that could appear to imply sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of a political candidate, campaign, or cause. Public trust and confidence depend on this.

I encourage all DON Service Members and civilian employees to carry out the obligations of citizenship, including participation in the electoral process.
