Danny & Michelle love the Hunt area! We bought this wonderful cabin to retire in someday and we are Welcome to our 4 bedroom, 3 bath home in Hunt, Texas!

Come away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy the peace and serenity of the Texas Hill Country. This is a perfect place for a family vacation, reunion or a weekend getaway. We are six miles from Hunt, Texas and are close to most of the summer camps in the area. Stay a long weekend or get a discount on a 7 night or longer stay in the off-season. Our home has a fully equipped kitchen

with 2 barstools and a 6-person kitchen table. The family room has high beam ceiling and a large sliding glass door to comfortably view nature. There is satellite television as well as a DVD player. Outside you can enjoy two huge decks. Family and friends can gather and enjoy grilling on the gas grill or relax in the seating area while enjoying the views. There are many birds and other wildlife on the property that you will enjoy watching. Below the decks there is a large hammock for lounging or napping and a fire-pit for evening fires and s’mores for the kids.

Found cat Monday night at the end of Marymeade Drive six miles west of Hunt along Hwy 39. She/he is still hanging around today. Please call 907-317-0469 to claim it. We are going to try to catch it and take to animal control to get scanned for a chip later today, but she/he can’t stay here. Coyotes will get it.

We had such a great time watching the eclipse with friends on Monday. The clouds parted off and on throughout the eclipse, then for about 30 seconds during totality. What an amazing sight!

A Fireworks ban is now in effect for Kerr County.

Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly issued the order on Friday, July 1, 2022.

After resisting a ban on fireworks, Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly relented late Friday, July 1, 2022, and issued an emergency order banning the sale of fireworks starting at 1 p.m. Saturday and running through 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

"I know that many of our citizens enjoy fireworks as part of their Independence Day celebrations each year, but our current hot and dry conditions mean it is just too risky this year," Kelly said. "It may be disappointing, but the decision was made to protect lives and property by mitigating the threat of dangerous fires."

The only exception is Kerrville's civic fireworks display in Louise Hays Park on Monday night.

The order bans the sale or use of fireworks throughout the county, with enforcement to come from the Kerr County Sheriff's Office.

Early morning visitors were here again. There were at least 20 stretched out all along the fence, and a few right below the deck. It was a little too dark to take pictures, but I tried to get a few without spooking them.

A couple of before & after pic from today’s project. Texas Tree Service had a couple crews out here today working on cleaning up the oak trees and getting rid of all the dead cedars that were too close to the house. I’ll work on getting the same angle as the before pics tomorrow morning. It feels a little bare right now, but the trees that stayed will be healthier.

Last night of a good, but busy trip. We’re leaving it to our guests for the summer and planning what to do when we move down here. It will still be part time for a couple of years, but changes are coming. First project will hopefully be a studio for Michelle and a workshop for Danny. Michelle will be doing her glass art and Danny wants to take up some kind of art, probably welding, or some other “Smithing.”

Hunt Vacation House wildlife

I was sitting on the deck for about 20 min or so enjoying the stillness & listening to the birds. I was taking a video of the sunrise to try to capture some of the bird songs and heard a thumping behind me, so I turned around & shot (video shot, to be clear, spell check didn't like videoed) the axis deer in our yard instead! I'm sorry it's fuzzy. I don't know if it's because I couldn't hold still or the settings on the phone weren't high enough quality.
