Spring has arrived in the village of Hunt, Tex with the hills and valleys covered in a sea of green. The birds are preparing their nests for the birth of their young, and the deer are locating a safe place to hide their babies at birth.
I love this time of year, the smell of fresh mown grass, the beauty of daffodils and iris proudly showing their shape and color, fields of wild flowers that unexpectedly appear in the fields, the fragrant smells in the air, and the fireflies lighting up the evening shy.
Casa del Rio Riverhouse. com boasts all of this plus a canoe trip in a cool, clear river to a waterfall, mountains to climb and land to explore all in privacy in this breathtakingly beautiful place.

Much fun is had a Casa del Rio Riverhouse climbing the hills, canoeing the river, fishing for large bass after which warming at the fireplace inside, and drinking a cup of hot cocoa. There are 50 acres to explore covered with huge trees and an abundance of wildlife. The winter rate is now $249 a night instead of $298 a night and will last through March. The 2 bedroom 1 bath house rock house sleeps 6 and has central heat and A/C.
It is peaceful and private and an awesome place to stay.

I have a December Special at Casa del Rio Riverhouse. My nightly rate is now $198 instead of $298, plus Cleaning and Tax.
The river is running clear and cold, the weather is cold at night and warm during the day. The beauty is awesome, and the Hill Country life peaceful. This could be a Christmas gift to your family or to a loved one.

Summer is upon us and time for a swim in the clear, cool waters of the Guadalupe River. There are huge cypress trees shading the river in many areas, and it is fun fishing off the bridge for Guadalupe big mouth bass. Swinging in the rocking chair swings is a novel experience while watching the river go by singing its happy song.
Lying on inner tubes in the river is a fun pastime without a care in the world.

The fireflies are out in abundance at night, and the stars are a spectacular sight.

There is peace and quiet in these hills with happy thoughts echoing through the mind.
It is a lovely place.
It is God's place.

Spring is here and life goes on at Casa del Rio Riverhouse. The rains have given a boost to nature with trees leafing out and green grass covering the landscape. This is my favorite time of year hearing the birds singing their happy song, and anticipating the beautiful wildflowers. I have seen 2 Geico's
in the trees, but they had nothing to say to me.
The virus is difficult on the people of this country, but maybe, just maybe we will come out of this a kinder, more loving people realizing how fortunate to have this wonderful free country to live in.

The Texas Hill Country is a beautiful place with rivers, canyons, limestone cliffs, and huge Cypress trees along the river. This is the area of Casa del Rio Riverhouse hosted by Betty.
There is a sense of peace and a desire to explore the unknown going up the hills and to the mountains covered with hardwood trees. It is exciting to see places rarely seen, and to sense the stillness and quiet, feeling at one with nature.
This land once inhabited by Indians, then pioneers on the plains, and cowboys on the range, takes on a life of its own where stress is a stranger and relaxation is a habit.
The night sky is filled with stars, and its beauty is overwhelming.
Here there is a sense of newness of life, a new beginning.

Casa del Riverhouse is on a special part of the river with nothing like it. It is right on the river and guests can explore both sides of the river among huge cypress trees, white tail and axis deer, and many species of birds.
There is a narrow winding river and a wide deep river where canoes can be launched to canoe to a waterfall (about 3/4 of a mile). The water is clear and cool, so refreshing for swimming and catching big mouth bass. There us a 250' hill behind the house for those who like to hike and explore. There is privacy and peace in this land that we like to call God's Country.

The breeze blows through the trees,
Whistling as it goes

The river flows its natural course
A bit higher than before,
No grass to water now,
Just fish galore

Limestone cliffs surround this place
Where sheep and goats roam,
And axis and white tail deer
Are always at home

Sunsets and starlit nights
Display beauty unparalleled,
Giving a sense of peace and calm,
Signaling all is well

There is a stillness in this valley
A quiet calm overall,
A feeling of peace and serenity,
It is definitely fall

Guadalupe River paradise

Casa del Rio Riverhouse is special this time of year. The river is up, flowing clear cold water and singing its song rolling over rocks and stones to the delight of anyone listening.

The white tail and axis deer look fat and healthy when they come to the river for their daily drink. The great blue heron flies by occasionally on his way to catch fish in the deeper water. There is a kingfisher who does his fishing in the river just below the house.

Fly fishing is a favorite sport here, also mountain climbing and star gazing.

It is just awesome here in the land that God built with peace and beauty all around.

Fall is here and all is well. It is calm and peaceful at Casa del Rio after a fun-filled summer with families and couples swimming, fishing and canoeing in the cool waters of the Guadalupe River. The fall will present a different season with cool breezes, trees turning colors, birds traveling south for the winter, and the ever flowing river being heard through open windows. It is time for relaxation; to walk along the river and see nature at its finest with huge trees providing shade all along the way.

There is a lot of summer fun at Casa del Rio. Many guests are coming to enjoy the cool waters of the Guadalupe River, swimming, fishing, and canoeing. There is a soft breeze coming off the river which makes being outside delightful, and many large trees offer a lot of shade.
The scenery here is spectacular with many large trees on the 300 foot hillside,cliffs, and rapids near the house as well as wide deep water.
It is a welcoming place for couples, families and singles as well providing privacy, great beauty and unequaled serenity.

Through the Seasons

We have had a really cold winter at Casa del Rio Riverhouse. With the leaves off the trees you can see the hills beyond and watch the animals scurrying around. The birds are beginning to sing their spring song and the sound is exciting. There are many birds in the area, and a naturalist staying here saw these species of birds:

Ash throated Flycatcher, Eastern Phoebe, Lark Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, House Finch, Lesser Goldfinch, Summer Tanager, Northern Cardinal, Carolina Wren, Greater Roadrunner, Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Yellow Throated Warbler, Black and White Warbler, White-eyed Vireo, Gray-headed Vireo (Solitary Vireo) Turkey Vulture & Black Vulture, Mourning Dove, White-winged Dove, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Green Kingfisher, Northern Oriole, Rough-winged swallow, Barn Swallow, American Robin, Chimney Swift, Purple Martin, Painted Bunting, Bewick’s Wren, Golden-fronted Woodpecker & Great-horned Owl. WOW!

This is a place of great importance to bird watchers. The river is singing its song also rushing over the rocks and winding through the land. The bass, catfish, sunfish and others can be seen through the clear water. Fishing and Fly fishing is a fun activity as well as canoeing up to Angel Falls. Spring will soon be here and a marvelous transformation occurs when the trees begin To get their leaves. The hills disappear into the background, and the cool Guadalupe Water invites tubing and swimming.

Each season has its beauty, and the tranquil life here soothes the soul.

Fall is here and there is an umbrella of color overhead with the trees turning from green to gold and rust. From the sense of fall in the air to the feel of peace surrounding Casa del Rio Riverhouse, there is a desire to amble along the river, catch Guadalupe Bass and sit in the rocking chair swings hearing the sound of the river flow by.
Thanksgiving in the Riverhouse is available, a time for a fire in the fireplace and turkey roasting in the oven.
