🦩Have you heard about Florida's flamingo comeback?! ➡️ Blown in by Hurricane Idalia, these vibrant birds have graced our shores from St. Marks to Collier County, with sightings even as far as Alachua County!

🔎 Where are they? Reports pour in from Tigertail Beach to Tarpon Springs and beyond.

🌍 Flamingos, once abundant in Florida, vanished by the 1900s due to plume hunting. But recent sightings hint at their return. Originating from Mexico and Cuba, some stay post-storm, like the famous Pinky at St. Marks Refuge.

🌿 Before settlers, Florida was a wading bird haven. Feathers became fashion, decimating bird populations until laws protected them.

🌊 Now, restoration efforts like the Everglades Restoration Plan aim to revive habitats. Successful nesting years show promise for wading birds. With continued efforts, we hope to see flamingos flourish once again.

One of the best things about Sunshine Cozy Cottages is the incredible camaraderie between guests. 🏡 As I was strolling around the cottages, I met a guest on the porch who shared their passion for music and playing guitar. 🎸 Another guest chimed in, suggesting we all get together for some musical fun on Friday or Saturday. 🎵

And just like that, our little 'Jamborette' was born! 🥳 Guests from Nova Scotia were especially excited, bringing along some potluck goodies to share. 🍲

The nice comfortable little cottages are located right across the street from Indian Rocks Beach where you can watch beautiful sunsets every evening. Right down the street are a few restaurants one can go for eating and drinking or dancing; whatever your pleasure. Other residents that come there were always friendly.
