Travel through the Tongass National Forest, the largest in the United States, consisting of 16.7 million acres, and get up close and personal with the Mendenhall Glacier! Meet your guide near your Juneau cruise terminal and enjoy a narrated drive into the Tongass National Forest towards the Mendenhall Glacier. This is a small group

excursion so only 10 passengers per canoe. Upon arrival at the lake, you will be fitted with your rain gear; including a rain jacket, rain pants, rain boots and paddling gloves. Your professional and friendly guide will go over safety and paddling instructions with everyone before stepping foot into the canoe. If you have never been in a canoe before, that is no problem! Canoeing is a team effort and with proper instructions, it will be and enjoyable paddle across the Mendenhall Lake. The lake is surrounded by mountains, a tremendous waterfall and if you are lucky, there is even a chance to see wildlife! Arctic terns, mountain goats, beavers and more are scattered throughout the Alaskan wilderness. The main focus of this excursion is experiencing the Mendenhall Glacier. The Mendenhall Glacier is part of the Juneau Icefield and is 13 miles long, a half of mile wide and staggering 1,800 feet deep! You will canoe close enough to the glacier that you can feel the brisk, glacier winds roll across your face and see the famous glacial blue ice. This is the wild Alaksa everyone is talking about and adventure you don't want to miss. When you return to shore after your adventure, you will be greeted with a hot beverage along with some snacks as you shed all of your equipment and gear to return back to the guide. When everyone is ready, you'll board again your transportation for a quick drive back to your Juneau cruise terminal where you can now say you have officially explored the Last Frontier!
