I came across this detailed report about the status of the banyan tree. The news is mostly good, and the tree continues to recover! Sending healing mojo and strength to the people affected by the fire and a fervent hope that they are as resilient and successful in rebuilding their lives.

For many, the famous Banyan tree in Lahaina has become a symbol of the town's recovery. While it does appear the tree will live, not all of it survived.

For those of you wondering about travel to Maui... please don't change your plans! Our economy depends on your mindful, respectful tourism.

The island’s west side has reopened to visitors two months after the devastating wildfires. But the travel industry anticipates the return of much-needed tourism to be a slow drip.

We are so fortunate; our properties were untouched by the wildfires. Through the gracious cancellation of our guests, we are able to house families displaced by the fires. We currently have a family of four staying, and we are anticipating the arrival of a second small family to our 1 BR unit.

As of now, by the numbers:
- 93 confirmed dead with more expected
- 1,413 people are at 6 shelters
- Hundreds of businesses burned. Thousands of businesses won't make it.
